Fans of Kartik Aaryan will have to wait a bit longer to see the actor in his most unique avatar yet. The highly anticipated creature comedy, Naagzilla: Naag Lok Ka Pehla Kaand, which was originally slated for an August 2026 release, has now been officially pushed to February 12, 2027.

The film’s makers, including Dharma Productions and Mahaveer Jain Films, announced the new date this week, confirming that the movie will now arrive during the Valentine’s Day weekend. This shift not only gives the team more time to perfect the high-end visual effects required for the fantasy world but also avoids a major box-office clash with other big-ticket releases previously scheduled for Independence Day 2026.

In Naagzilla, Kartik Aaryan steps away from his usual romantic-hero image to play a character named Preyamvadeshwar Pyare Chand. The film is described as a “creature comedy” rooted deeply in Indian folklore, where Kartik portrays an Icchadhari Naag who finds himself in a series of hilarious and adventurous situations.

The actor had previously teased his look with a motion poster, showing him surrounded by snakes against a modern cityscape, signaling a blend of traditional myth and contemporary humor.

The project is being directed by Mrighdeep Singh Lamba, who is widely known for his work on the successful Fukrey franchise. Given Lamba’s track record with quirky comedies, expectations are high for Naagzilla to deliver a fresh take on the “snake-man” genre, which has long been a staple of Indian cinema and television.

The screenplay is written by Gautam Mehra, and the film boasts a massive production scale. Producers include Karan Johar, Apoorva Mehta, and Mahaveer Jain, who are reportedly investing heavily in the film’s VFX to ensure that the shape-shifting sequences look world-class.

While the initial plan was to release the film on August 14, 2026, to coincide with Naag Panchami and the Independence Day holiday, industry insiders suggest that the complexity of the post-production work is the primary reason for the delay. The makers are keen on refining the CGI and scaling up the “Naag Lok” to provide a visually immersive experience for the audience.

By moving to February 2027, Naagzilla also secures a solo window during the romantic holiday season, which has historically worked well for Kartik Aaryan’s films.

Despite the delay of Naagzilla, Kartik Aaryan remains one of the busiest actors in Bollywood. He is currently working on several high-profile projects, including Bhooth Bangla with Priyadarshan and an untitled musical drama directed by Anurag Basu.

As the industry moves toward 2027, Naagzilla stands out as one of the most experimental films in Kartik’s career, promising a mix of “fun and fangs” that aims to entertain both children and adults alike. To know
