Veteran Bollywood actor Suniel Shetty has expressed high praise for the ongoing arrangements and security measures for the Char Dham Yatra. During a recent visit to Rishikesh, the actor dismissed widespread concerns regarding overcrowding and mismanagement, describing the administrative efforts as “beyond expectations.”
The Char Dham Yatra, which includes the sacred shrines of Yamunotri, Gangotri, Kedarnath, and Badrinath, has seen a massive surge in devotees since the portals opened earlier this month. Despite the logistical challenges posed by thousands of pilgrims descending upon the Himalayan foothills, Shetty noted that the experience on the ground remains remarkably smooth.
Speaking to reporters after participating in the Ganga Aarti at Parmarth Niketan, Shetty highlighted the tireless efforts of the local authorities. He specifically pointed out the role of the Uttarakhand Police in maintaining order during a period of intense heat and heavy footfall.
“People often hear complaints about traffic congestion and poor arrangements during the pilgrimage, but my experience was completely different,” Shetty stated. “The police are working round the clock to ensure that everything remains organized. Even with the large influx of people, there is no sense of chaos.”
The actor emphasized that the traffic management systems implemented in Rishikesh—the gateway to the pilgrimage—have been highly effective. He lauded the administration for their proactive approach in tackling the unique challenges of the 2026 season.
Beyond observing the arrangements, Shetty revealed his own intentions to undertake the full Char Dham circuit. While his current visit to Rishikesh was brief, he confirmed that a dedicated pilgrimage is on his upcoming schedule.
“I plan to undertake the Char Dham pilgrimage myself during my next visit,” he said, encouraging other devotees to approach the journey with confidence. He urged pilgrims to ignore negative rumors circulating on social media, asserting that the ground reality is one of efficiency and safety.
Shetty’s endorsements come at a critical time for the state administration. With over 250,000 devotees having visited the shrines in the first nine days alone, the government has been under pressure to ensure safety and comfort.
Official measures this year include a revamped online registration system and real-time monitoring of landslide-prone areas. The actor’s public support is expected to boost the morale of both the administrative staff and the millions of devotees expected to travel to Uttarakhand in the coming weeks.
As the yatra continues to gain momentum, the presence of public figures like Suniel Shetty serves to highlight the spiritual and cultural significance of the journey, while also validating the massive infrastructure and security operations supporting it. To
