Director Aditya Datt recently opened up about his experience working with lead actress Genelia Deshmukh, describing her as a total dream to work with. In a recent interview, Datt highlighted Genelia’s incredible work ethic and her deep understanding of the filmmaking process, which he believes stems from her own experience as a producer.
Datt shared a specific instance from the sets that left the entire crew in awe of her dedication. During the filming of a critical climax sequence, the production schedule hit a snag. The team realized they needed an extra day of filming that Genelia had previously reserved for a personal commitment—her son’s major soccer match in Delhi. Despite the conflict, when the director explained the logistical and budgetary pressure of moving the shoot, Genelia stepped up in a way that few expected.
According to the director, Genelia pulled off a grueling 24-hour hustle to ensure the project stayed on track. She worked a full night shift on set in Mumbai from 7:00 PM until 6:00 AM the following morning. Without taking a break, she headed straight to the airport to catch a flight to Delhi. After cheering for her son at his match, she flew back to Mumbai that same afternoon and reported back to the film set by 8:00 PM to continue shooting until sunrise.
Aditya Datt expressed immense respect for her commitment, noting that she was highly sensitive to the producers’ financial stakes. He mentioned that her ability to balance her personal life with such professional rigor made her a standout collaborator. He recalled feeling a sense of guilt seeing her push through the exhaustion, eventually urging her to rest as soon as her scenes were wrapped.
