Aamir noted that a masterpiece like Lagaan is completely different in its spirit from a contemporary youth drama like Rang De Basanti, which in turn looks nothing like a gritty cop drama like Sarfarosh or a coming-of-age comedy like 3 Idiots. He credited the individual sensibilities of fifteen to twenty unique directors and brilliant screenwriters for crafting these diverse worlds.
