Today’s episode begins with Usman telling Mahid that the one whom he taught to read is now trying to teach him what is written in the religious books.
Mahid says that Usman only learned and taught the parts of the religious books that suited his convenience and then declared them to be the truth. He says that during tomorrow’s debate God’s command will be presented truthfully.
Mahid Challenges Usman’s Beliefs
Mahid says that Usman claims women have no right to education. Usman replies that God permits people to gain knowledge but if women want to gain knowledge then they should learn religious knowledge instead.
Mahid asks him where exactly that is written in any religious book. He says that the Quran asks people to read but nowhere does it say that only men should be educated. Husna says that Mahid is only talking from his own point of view.
She says only a man can keep a woman safe. She says that because of Seher he is insulting a respected religious scholar like Usman. Husna says she knows why Seher wants to go to school she only wants freedom to wander around.
Mahid Defends Seher
Seher says Husna has misunderstood her. She explains that she wants to study so that she can become a doctor and help people just like she helped Usman. She says that if she had not been educated nobody knows what could have happened that day.
Husna says that education is only an excuse. She says Seher wants to become like her mother Kausar and enjoy life freely. Mahid ask Husna if she has any proof for what she is saying.
Husna says she is only repeating what she heard in society. She says that if he wants proof he should ask Parvez who proved in front of the entire community that Kausar had betrayed him and was unfaithful. Usman says that he saw it with his own eyes.
Mahid Takes a Stand for Kausar
Mahid replies that Usman only saw what Parvez wanted him to see and believed. Usman asks how Mahid knows that Kausar is innocent.
Mahid asks in return how Usman knows that Parvez was telling the truth. He says Kausar was ever allowed to present her side in front of everyone. Mahid says that a Mufti should belong to everyone not just Parvez. He tells that Parvez’s nature has always been full of lies and deception.
Usman tells him that earlier he said nobody should be judged without proper investigation but now he is calling Parvez a liar.
Mahid Proves His Point
Mahid says that he has proof. He reveals that Parvez lied and took Seher’s Meher money for himself and didn’t give anything to Seher. He says that if a man can steal his own daughter’s money then why can he not lie about his wife?
Mahid further reveals that Parvez was the same person who tried to kill Kausar by drowning her in a water tank and he himself witnessed it. Mahid asks what proof Parvez ever gave that Kausar truly loved Fareed.
He says that if Kausar had really loved Fareed she would have sacrificed her life for him and Fareed is the man who raised Parvez’s daughter Amal after Parvez abandoned her in a hospital parking lot.
Mahid says that Fareed even has witnesses to prove this. Finally Mahid asks Usman what proof he has that Parvez was speaking the truth.
Fareed Comforts Kausar
Meanwhile Kausar gets ready and comes downstairs. She notices the dining table filled with food and asks Fareed what all this is.
Fareed asks her to taste the dishes and tell him which one is her favorite. Kausar replies that she eats food only to fill her stomach. She says she does not think about favorites. Fareed explains that psychology says when someone is having a bad day eating their favorite food can make them feel better.
Kausar says that a person who is in pain can even remain hungry. Fareed says that when the stomach is full people can fight their battles better. He asks her to choose one favorite dish from everything on the table. Kausar tastes the food. Fareed then plays some music. Kausar asks why he is playing music and why he is doing all this.
Fareed says that he wants to know what kind of music she likes. Fareed realizes that she is enjoying the song and tells her that he has figured out which song is her favorite.
Mahid Debates with Usman
Usman says may he made a mistake regarding Kausar but that does not mean his orders should be disobeyed.
Mahid says that the issue is not one wrong decision but Usman’s wrong mindset. He says that Usman does not see women as human beings but as servants. Mahid reminds him that he had already told him Seher was only sixteen years old and he did not accept this marriage. Yet Usman kept using religion as a reason to justify it.
Mahid Gives Seher Her Second Divorce
Mahid says that today in front of everyone Usman called Seher his daughter-in-law but she is not his daughter-in-law. He says that the Quran does not allow forced marriages.
Mahid says that a sixteen-year-old girl cannot understand such a major life decision and cannot give consent to marriage. He declares that the marriage was wrong. Mahid says that in front of him and Tahir considering them witness he is giving Seher second divorce.
Mahid With a heavy heart says seher one month has passed since the first divorce and today he is giving the second one. Husna becomes happy.
Seher Accepts the Divorce
Seher says that in society divorce is considered a disgrace. However today she does not feel sad. Instead she feels proud that Mahid is divorcing her for justice and she accepts the divorce.
Mahid tells Usman that he can never repay his love and support but he cannot carry the burden of his injustice. He says that he will no longer stay in the house. Mahid says that tomorrow he will meet him during the public debate.
Kausar and Fareed Talk About Amal
Later Kausar realizes that she didn’t ask Fareed to eat. She serves Fareed and tells him that she is used to feeding everyone first and eating later herself.
Fareed starts eating and realizes the food is very spicy. Kausar says she liked it and usually cooks food even spicier. Fareed says he cannot eat such spicy food. Kausar gives him sweets.
Fareed asks how she feels after she tries to learn what food and music she likes. Kausar says she feels nice and thanks him.
Fareed says that he never forced his choices on her. In the same way decisions about what she eats or whom she lives with should belong only to her.
Fareed then asks Kausar whether Amal should not have the same right to decide what she wants and what she does not want. He says Kausar brought Amal into this world and he was the one who showed Amal the world.
Fareed believes Amal should have the right to choose whom she wants to live with. Kausar agrees that he is right.
Usman Stops Mahid from Leaving
Usman stops Mahid before he leaves the house. He says that when he first held Mahid in his arms as a child he had a dream of making him just like himself.
Usman says he always wanted Mahid to guide society, support the weak and become the voice of the poor. He says that he dedicated his entire life to that purpose and gave Mahid all his experience, wisdom and knowledge. Usman asks how Mahid could now stand against him after everything he has done for him.
He tells Mahid that he protected him, supported him, and held his hand throughout his life. Usman asks if this is the reward he is receiving for raising him. Mahid replies that Usman did raise him but good values did not come only from him. He says that Gazala’s books also taught him many lessons and stayed with him during his loneliness. Mahid says he hated Gazala but her words always remained with him.
He explains that those words changed him and encouraged him to raise his voice for Seher, Kausar and every woman whose suffering he had failed to support.
Mahid Urges Usman to Accept Change
Mahid says that times are changing and if he refuse to accept that change future generations will forget them.
He adds that people consider Usman their leader. If he does not show them the right path it will be a betrayal of their trust. Mahid says that people want justice and justice will only be possible if Usman changes his path and follows what is truly written in the Quran.
Usman Accepts His Mistake
Usman tells Mahid that he cannot leave him. He says that what Mahid has told him has forced him to think again. Mahid asks if he truly agrees with this perspective.
Usman replies that this is not a personal battle that he is trying to win. He says that when strong winds of change arrive old trees must bend otherwise they break. Usman says that he does not want to break. He wants to continue serving society and delivering justice. He tells Mahid that if he ever loses his way he will not feel ashamed to seek Mahid’s support.
Mahid hugs Usman. Usman says that Mahid has proved himself to be the true guide of society. Husna becomes furious.
Usman announces that tomorrow at 4 PM everyone should gather. In front of the entire community he will admit his mistakes and correct them
Usman Appeals to Seher
Usman says that Seher may no longer be the daughter-in-law of his house and may no longer be Mahid’s wife in religious terms, but if there is anyone who can still stand beside Mahid throughout his life it is Seher.
Precap: The people accuse Kausar and Seher of trying to kill Usman. Kausar says that they did not kill Usman. The crowd demands punishment for Kausar. The people brutally attack her and Kausar dies during the assault. Seher blames Mahid and says that he is responsible for Kausar’s death.
