In a deeply distressing incident that has shocked animal lovers and the film fraternity alike, Bollywood actor Manjari Fadnnis has publicly raised her voice to demand justice following the horrific and brutal killing of a community dog inside her residential complex. The actress, best known for her memorable performance in the hit movie Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na, took to her official social media account to share a heartbreaking video where she completely broke down while detailing the tragic sequence of events. Visibly devastated and weeping continuously, Manjari expressed her absolute disbelief and intense anger over the pure cruelty inflicted upon a defenseless animal, questioning how any human being could comfortably perpetrate such an unforgivable and violent act.
The tragic incident unfolded at Manjari’s housing society located in the Madh Island area of Mumbai, where a sweet, long-haired community dog named Mikey had been living peacefully since around 2019 or 2020 after being abandoned by his original family. According to the actress, Mikey went missing mysteriously from the premises, prompting worried residents to launch an intense, days-long search campaign by printing missing posters, scouring the neighborhood, and continuously questioning the security guards to find his whereabouts. The horrific truth came to light only after an individual who knew the culprits formally confessed to the residents about what had actually transpired. The informant revealed that Mikey was sleeping quietly near a basement area when he was suddenly hit on the head with a heavy stick or an iron rod, leaving the poor animal completely disoriented.
The brutal assault did not stop there, as the attackers reportedly dragged the bleeding and disoriented dog into a staircase area between the basement and the lobby to beat him further. According to the shocking confession shared by Manjari, Mikey was beaten so severely that he bled from his mouth and lost control of his bodily functions, after which the perpetrators packed his half-dead body inside a large sack or goni and callously dumped it into the muddy creek or beach area behind the building. The actor shared that residents are currently working alongside an animal welfare non-governmental organization run by activist Xavier Bernard Santiago to locate Mikey’s remains in the creek, confirming with a heavy heart that the beloved community canine is gone and they are deeply uncertain if he even survived the initial journey to the dumping ground.
Expressing her profound grief, Manjari Fadnnis emphasized that Mikey was a harmless, affectionate dog whom the society members loved deeply, often taking turns to bathe, groom, and detangle his fur. She directly urged the Supreme Court and local authorities to enforce far stricter animal protection laws across India, pointing out that individuals with criminal minds currently feel entirely safe committing such illegal atrocities because existing penalties for animal cruelty are weak and fail to create fear. The actress firmly stated that her team and neighbors are actively initiating legal action against the culprits with the assistance of Senior Police Inspector Shailendra Nagarkar to ensure they face strict punishment. Manjari’s emotional plea for justice has received immense support online, with several prominent Bollywood personalities including Bhumi Pednekar, Sonal Chauhan, and Ridhima Pandit expressing their shock and standing in solidarity to demand immediate accountability.
