Shahid Kapoor Says He Doesnt Hear Script Narration Alone After Deva O Romeo Failures Don T Know What Film To Choose

Bollywood actor Shahid Kapoor has made a major change in his professional life following the disappointing performance of his recent cinematic projects. While busy preparing for the release of his upcoming romantic comedy film Cocktail 2, the actor opened up in a candid interview about how he evaluates potential movie offers. Shahid revealed that he has officially stopped listening to prospective script narrations by himself, moving completely away from his long-standing habit of making solo career decisions. The well-known star confessed that relying entirely on his own gut feelings and artistic vision has failed to produce the desired outcomes lately, which has caused him to question his own judgment when it comes to choosing the right projects for his career.

This sudden shift in strategy comes directly after the back-to-back box office failure of his last two major releases, namely the action drama film Deva and the romantic action thriller movie O Romeo. Despite creating substantial anticipation among audiences before their respective releases, both films received highly mixed reviews and emerged as commercial disappointments at the box office. Reflecting on these career setbacks, Shahid admitted that he no longer feels completely secure in his personal decision-making process. He shared with his team that while he knows exactly what to do when performing in front of a camera, he does not always know which films to choose, explaining that his criteria might be too heavily driven by a pure artistic instinct that does not always translate well to mainstream audience expectations.

To fix this issue, Shahid Kapoor now strictly insists on having at least three members of his management team present in the room during any new script reading sessions. The actor explained that people with a highly vivid imagination can easily picture a script looking incredible in their heads during a solo reading, but the final product on screen often turns out completely different from what they originally envisioned. By bringing extra people into the narration room, he hopes to gain a wider variety of objective perspectives rather than just trusting his personal emotions. He noted that even after spending over twenty-three years working in the highly unpredictable entertainment industry, an individual can never truly control how a movie will perform or predict how a director will ultimately choose to frame a scene.

In addition to changing his script selection process, Shahid also spoke extensively about the difficult challenge of trying to blend high art with commercial success in modern Hindi cinema. He stated that he has spent the majority of his career trying to force these two separate worlds together, which he now realizes do not naturally sit well together and only ends up tearing an artist apart. Moving forward, the actor has decided to stop mixing the two elements, stating that if he chooses to do a purely commercial project, he will submit entirely to that format without trying to inject unnecessary logic into it, whereas if he decides to do an experimental film, he will do it purely for the love of the craft without expecting massive box office numbers.
