Popular television star and fitness enthusiast Nimrit Kaur Ahluwalia recently opened up about a major health setback after suffering a severe back spasm while performing deadlifts during a workout session. Known for her dedication to an active lifestyle, the actress admitted that she made a crucial error by pushing her body beyond its limits when she was already feeling exhausted. Explaining the background of her physical health, Nimrit shared that she had previously suffered a muscle tear on her left lat muscle about two years ago while shooting for the stunt reality show Khatron Ke Khiladi, leaving her left side comparatively weaker. On the day of the incident, despite training under the constant supervision of a professional coach, she was severely underslept and fatigued, which led to a sudden pull in her lower back mid-set followed by acute, unbearable pain.
Reflecting on the painful experience, Nimrit candidly acknowledged her mistake by stating that ideally she should not have trained that heavy when she clearly was not in the right mental or physical space to handle heavy weights. Following the incident, she immediately consulted her doctor and was relieved to learn that the injury had not escalated into a fracture or a slipped disc. However, the severity of the back spasm forced her to put her entire work schedule and fitness regimen on hold, keeping her strictly confined to bed rest. The recovery process started with a complete week of zero walking, heavy reliance on painkillers, and targeted rehabilitation sessions. The forced pause proved to be mentally challenging and frustrating for the actress, as she even had to cancel two important work trips to prioritize her health.
Gradually making progress in her recovery journey, Nimrit shared that by the second week she was able to begin walking again alongside her ongoing rehab routine. Moving into her third week, she has cautiously resumed training with light exercises that strictly focus on body mobility rather than heavy lifting. The actress emphasized that this painful ordeal has fundamentally changed her outlook toward overall fitness, teaching her to treat rest, proper sleep, clean nutrition, and recovery methods like sports massages and cupping with the same priority as workouts. She advised all her fans and fitness enthusiasts to always listen to their bodies and avoid glorifying overexertion when fatigued, reminding everyone that real physical progress requires a healthy balance between pushing boundaries and giving the body time to heal properly.
