Cine and TV Artistes Association (CINTAA) President and veteran actor Poonam Dhillon has strongly refuted the intense allegations of dictatorship and financial irregularities leveled against her by former General Secretary Upasana Singh. Addressing a press conference alongside Senior Vice President Padmini Kolhapure, Poonam dismissed all accusations as completely baseless and false, emphasizing that the leadership maintains complete transparency in all its operations. She firmly stated that every single penny raised by the association is meticulously accounted for and strictly directed toward its rightful beneficiaries and causes, assuring that no funds have ever been misdirected for personal gain. Echoing her sentiments, Padmini Kolhapure reiterated that the governing body maintains a strict zero-tolerance policy against any unlawful or unconstitutional practices, maintaining that their long-standing track record and official financial books speak for themselves.
The dramatic press interaction comes in the wake of mounting internal strife within the industry body after 11 out of the 21 Executive Committee members, including notable names like Mukesh Rishi, Puneet Issar, Vindu Dara Singh, and Deepak Parashar, submitted their resignations. Upasana Singh, who accepted these resignations in her capacity as General Secretary, subsequently accused the leadership of concentrating decision-making power, issuing show-cause notices to dissenting members, and violating CINTAA’s constitution by refusing to dissolve the committee. Furthermore, tensions escalated when official bank accounts of the association were frozen amid claims of financial mismanagement. Pushing back against these moves, Poonam revealed that freezing the accounts severely disrupted CINTAA’s daily operations and delayed crucial financial relief intended for struggling veteran artists in need of medical and personal aid.
Defending the constitutional legitimacy of the current governing board, Poonam Dhillon clarified that the association is following proper legal protocols and working diligently through the required paperwork to resolve bank hurdles and restore administrative stability. She also expressed deep hurt over the public defamation campaign, noting that while she and Padmini Kolhapure worked tirelessly to bring in goodwill and substantial funding for the welfare of artists, attempts were made to treat them as mere figureheads. Assuring members that CINTAA’s core mission remains protected, the executive team reaffirmed their commitment to managing union affairs with total integrity while taking necessary constitutional steps to conduct regular business smoothly.
