Netflix has officially released the gripping trailer for the highly anticipated action-thriller film Gandhari, starring power-house actress Taapsee Pannu in one of her most physically demanding and emotionally charged roles. The film revolves around a mother named Bani whose peaceful life turns into a living nightmare when her young daughter Mishty is abducted right before her eyes from a moving train. While running frantically behind the kidnappers, Bani suffers a devastating head injury that leaves her completely visually impaired. However, instead of surrendering to grief, Bani channels her inner goddess, relies on her remaining senses, and wages an all-out mahayudh against a dangerous child-trafficking syndicate operating in the mysterious, rule-bound town of Joypurra.
Directed by Devashish Makhija and written and produced by Kanika Dhillon under her Kathha Pictures banner, Gandhari marks the fourth successful collaboration between Taapsee and Kanika following Manmarziyaan, Haseen Dillruba, and Phir Aayi Haseen Dillruba. The trailer showcases intense action sequences where Bani battles ruthless antagonists known as Behrupiyas, relying on sheer resilience, conviction, and an unwavering maternal instinct to rescue her child. Alongside Taapsee, the ensemble cast features Ishwak Singh as Gokul, a grieving father searching for his missing daughter, and Jatin Sarna as Kabir, the police officer spearheading the investigation, supported by stellar actors including Swastika Mukherjee, Mita Vashisht, and Chhaya Kadam.
Reflecting on her experience, Taapsee shared that Bani’s refusal to give up amidst impossible odds deeply inspired her, leading her to interact with visually impaired individuals to authentically capture every nuanced physical movement. Fans and netzens have flooded social media with praise for the striking visual aesthetic, edge-of-the-seat suspense, and raw emotional intensity featured in the video. Scheduled to stream globally on Netflix starting September 3, 2026, Gandhari promises to deliver a high-octane narrative highlighting the extraordinary lengths a mother will go to protect her child.
