Acclaimed director Sandeep Reddy Vanga has created a massive buzz in the South Indian film industry with his latest comments regarding two of the most anticipated pan-India projects, SS Rajamouli’s Varanasi starring Mahesh Babu and his own upcoming directorial Spirit starring Prabhas. Speaking at a media interaction in Hyderabad while promoting the film Romanchakam, Vanga openly acknowledged that SS Rajamouli’s upcoming magnum opus Varanasi is a scale-wise bigger project than his action drama Spirit. When a journalist described both high-profile titles as thousand-crore productions, the director immediately chimed in to humbly correct the comparison, stating in Telugu that Rajamouli’s venture belongs to an even grander scale. His sportingly candid admission has drawn widespread admiration from trade analysts and fans alike, highlighting the mutual respect among top-tier Indian filmmakers.
Addressing concerns over the theatrical clash between the two cinematic giant releases, Sandeep expressed full confidence in the box office calendar. With Spirit locked for release on March 5, 2027, and Varanasi scheduled to arrive on April 7, 2027, Vanga pointed out that a 37-day gap is more than sufficient for both movies to perform at their peak potential without hampering each other’s commercial viability. He playfully dismissed queries about changing his film’s release date, assuring that production is progressing smoothly with nearly half of Spirit already shot. Additionally, the filmmaker shared that despite trying his best, he fully expects Spirit to receive an ‘A’ certificate from the Censor Board given its gritty, intense storyline, while reiterating his immense belief in Prabhas as one of the country’s biggest superstars.
