Director Abhishek Dogra’s latest directorial venture, Jeevan Ya Bheema Con?, has arrived in theatres with a promising premise, but ultimately delivers a mixed bag of comedic chaos. The story revolves around a debt-ridden couple, Jeevan and Yojana, played by Arshad Warsi and Sanjeeda Shaikh, who attempt a desperate insurance scam by faking Jeevan’s death using his lookalike, a deceased smuggler named Bheema. However, their scheme quickly spirals into madness when two local goons, played by Vijay Raaz and Brijendra Kala, arrive at their doorstep searching for stolen diamonds allegedly hidden by Bheema. Set primarily inside a single house, the film kicks off with good energy and establishes its central conflict quickly, offering a few genuinely funny moments during the initial setup. Unfortunately, the writing soon runs out of steam as the narrative relies heavily on repetitive situations, predictable twists, and outdated toilet humor that fails to sustain continuous laughs.
Despite the flaws in the screenplay, the talented ensemble cast does the heavy lifting to keep the film watchable throughout its runtime. Arshad Warsi shines in a double role, using his brilliant comic timing, distinct body language, and expressive delivery to bring much-needed energy to both Jeevan and Bheema. Sanjeeda Shaikh complements him well with a natural and earnest performance, while seasoned actors Vijay Raaz, Brijendra Kala, Pooja Chopra, and the late Atul Parchure lend strong support to the chaotic narrative. While the film suffers from sluggish pacing in the second half and uninspired gags, the dedication of its lead actors ensures it remains a decent one-time watch for fans of lighthearted comedy who do not expect a flawless script.
