The high-octane action thriller Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups, starring Rocking Star Yash, has encountered a massive financial setback regarding its post-theatrical digital streaming rights following an underwhelming response at the worldwide box office.

Directed by critically acclaimed filmmaker Geetu Mohandas and jointly produced by Venkat K. Narayana under KVN Productions alongside Monster Mind Creations, the pan-India film arrived in theaters with enormous anticipation as Yash’s immediate follow-up to the blockbuster KGF franchise.

Before its theatrical release, major streaming platforms were actively vying for the film’s multilingual digital rights. The producers had initially received a lucrative pre-release offer around ₹150 crores from a leading streaming giant. However, the makers declined the proposal, holding out for an ambitious valuation exceeding ₹200 crores in the expectation that a strong theatrical run would further boost its digital market value.

Following a steep box office decline plagued by negative word-of-mouth and mixed critical reviews, streaming platforms have severely slashed their valuations. Current market reports indicate that multi-language OTT offers for the film have crashed to a modest ₹30 crores, with ZEE5 reportedly submitting the highest bid so far while negotiations remain stalled. To make matters worse, the project faces limited recovery options from television satellite rights due to its heavily adult-oriented content and violence rating.

In a bid to minimize mounting financial losses and present a more streaming-friendly product to potential buyers, the production team is now contemplating a completely revamped edit and alternate cut specifically created for its digital release.

Mounted on a massive budget exceeding ₹500 crores, the dark gangster saga features a high-profile ensemble cast including Nayanthara, Kiara Advani, Huma Qureshi, Tara Sutaria, and Rukmini Vasanth, alongside music composed by Ravi Basrur. The drastic drop in digital valuation marks one of the most severe post-release devaluation cases for a major Indian tentpole in recent times.
