The excitement surrounding the upcoming crime thriller Drishyam 3 reached a fever pitch at the star-studded trailer launch held in Goa, where lead actor Ajay Devgn, Tabu, and director Abhishek Pathak gathered to give fans a glimpse of the final chapter.
Much of the media buzz during the press interaction revolved around powerhouse actor Jaideep Ahlawat, who enters the franchise as the fierce new antagonist, Crime Branch Officer Rajveer Singh Tomar. Ever since Jaideep was cast following reports of Akshaye Khanna’s exit after playing IG Tarun Ahlawat in Drishyam 2, rumors circulated that Jaideep was brought in to directly replace Akshaye.
Addressing these ongoing comparisons head-on, Jaideep set the record straight and clarified that his character has no connection to Akshaye’s role and is a completely new entry into the storyline.
During the media Q&A session at the trailer release, Jaideep explained that he felt no pressure stepping into the franchise because he never viewed his role as a replacement for Akshaye Khanna. He emphasized that when he first read the script written by Abhishek Pathak, it was clear that one character’s narrative journey had naturally concluded, making way for a fresh dynamic.
Jaideep added that his character brings a whole new perspective and individualistic arc to the screen, forming distinct relationships with both the Deshmukh and Salgaonkar families. He praised the writers for crafting a uniquely compelling role that allowed him to focus entirely on his performance rather than worrying about comparisons or external expectations.
The trailer showcases an intense face-off between Ajay Devgn’s iconic character Vijay Salgaonkar and Jaideep Ahlawat’s ruthless police officer, promising audiences an edge-of-the-seat experience when the film hits theaters on October 2.
With Akshaye Khanna’s brilliant performance in the second installment still fresh in viewers’ minds, Jaideep’s confident portrayal in the trailer reassures fans that the franchise continues to evolve with original storytelling. As speculation fades and anticipation builds for the ultimate showdown, moviegoers are eagerly waiting to see how this new rivalry unfolds on the big screen.
