The devotional drama Hanuman Ansh has been creating massive waves at the box office, yet fans were surprised to learn that the blockbuster film will not represent India at the Academy Awards this year.
Producer Namrata Singh recently clarified the entire situation, sharing that the project missed the official Oscar submission deadline for the Best International Feature Film category. She candidly confessed that as first-time producers managing an immense workload with a limited crew, they simply lacked awareness about the formal entry process and timeline.
By the time well-wishers and industry insiders reached out to inquire about the submission status, the cutoff date had already passed.
The primary reason behind missing the deadline was the team being stretched extremely thin across multiple ongoing operational priorities. The makers were heavily focused on preparing the film’s regional dubbing projects, starting with the Telugu theatrical release scheduled for mid-September, alongside making the movie accessible for viewers with different abilities.
Managing censor approvals and technical deliverables for the international market proved to be an overwhelming task. Furthermore, the creators were deeply committed to releasing the movie internationally on September 11, marking the sacred Mahasamadhi Day of Neem Karoli Baba, which created an intense race against time for their small team.
Despite missing out on the Oscar entry, the massive success of Hanuman Ansh has opened up grand opportunities for expansion. The producers are actively working on building a larger franchise around the story, with plans for a video game created in collaboration with the developers of FAU-G and an official comic book series currently in discussion.
While the team takes a brief break after a frantic production and distribution phase, they remain focused on expanding the universe and eventually beginning development on the next instalment of the planned trilogy.
