Bollywood actress Ameesha Patel’s family home located in the upscale Churchgate area of South Mumbai recently became the target of a high-profile theft involving valuable gold and diamond ornaments.
The incident came to light after the actor’s mother, Asha Patel, noticed that high-value jewellery—including a diamond-studded gold bangle valued at approximately Rs 5 lakh—was missing from the house.
Suspicion fell on their long-term domestic worker, forty-year-old Seema Ghate, who had been employed at the Churchgate apartment for nearly eighteen months. According to officials, the theft reportedly occurred earlier in the year, and Asha Patel initially gave the worker several months to admit to taking the items and return them quietly.
When the stolen ornaments were not handed back, the family approached the Marine Drive police station to lodge an official criminal complaint.
Following the formal complaint registered under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, a dedicated crime detection team from the Marine Drive police station launched an investigation. Officers traced the suspect to Virar, where she was taken into custody by local authorities.
The accused was subsequently produced before a Mumbai court and remanded to police custody as investigators work to recover the missing jewellery and determine whether she acted alone or had prior criminal involvement.
On the professional front, Ameesha Patel recently enjoyed a massive box-office revival following her appearance in the hit movie Gadar 2, making this unfortunate incident at her family home a sudden personal setback for the star.
