Avika Gor is back on television as the Queen of the Apsaras, in Star Plus’s supernatural series Apsara. Avika Gor brings power, grace and deep emotion to the episode. The story draws from Samudra Manthan. Is produced by Mukta Dhond. It follows Sunehri played by Samiksha Jaiswal who fights forces to protect the Amrit and keep her loved ones safe. Paras Kalnawat, Anushka Merchande and Adaa Khan also appear. Apsara mixes fantasy action and heartfelt relationships taking viewers into a world where duty and love test courage.
Talking about what drew her to the show Avika says “For me the medium has never been the deciding factor the character and the story have always mattered more. When I came across this character I was impressed by the many layers she offered. She is powerful and commanding yet has her own vulnerabilities. Playing her gave me the opportunity to explore everything from romance and action to emotional moments and dance.”
Bringing the fantasy world to life also meant embracing elaborate costumes jewellery and styling. Avika describes the transformation as an experience in itself with every detail helping her step into the character. She also credits producer Mukta Dhond and Vikram Ghai for creating a visually distinctive world and shares that working with Manish and AdaaKhan made the experience even more enjoyable. However, the most meaningful part of this project has been returning to television. Reflecting on her journey Avika say “Television is where so much of my growth as an actor happened. Coming back reminded me that no matter how much you grow, evolve or explore different mediums you should never forget your roots.”
Apsara premieres on 21st October at 10:30pm on Star Plus and JioHotstarbrb
