After enjoying an extraordinary box office journey since its release in early December Dhurandhar has added another major achievement to its success story. The Union Territory of Ladakh has officially declared the film tax-free recognising its phenomenal theatrical performance and overwhelming audience response across India and international markets.
The decision was announced by the Office of the Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh through an official statement shared on X. Lieutenant Governor Shri Kavinder Gupta confirmed that Aditya Dhar’s espionage thriller will now be exempt from entertainment tax throughout the region.
Helmed by National Award-winning filmmaker Aditya Dhar, Dhurandhar is backed by Jio Studios and B62 Studios. The film features Ranveer Singh in a commanding lead role supported by a powerful ensemble cast including Akshaye Khanna, R. Madhavan, Sanjay Dutt, and Arjun Rampal. Crafted as a large-scale intelligence thriller the film delves into covert missions inspired by real-life events, blending action, strategy, and emotional depth.
Given the film’s massive commercial success and positive word-of-mouth globally Ladakh’s move to make the film tax-free is being viewed as a strong boost that could further enhance its box office momentum.
An official note highlighted that Dhurandhar was extensively filmed in Ladakh showcasing the region’s breathtaking landscapes on the big screen. The move also reflects the Union Territory’s growing support for cinema and its ambition to position Ladakh as a preferred destination for filmmakers.
Written, directed, and produced by Aditya Dhar Dhurandhar is produced by Jyoti Deshpande and Lokesh Dhar. Presented by Jio Studios and produced under the banner of B62 Studios, the film also stars Sara Arjun in a key role. Since its release, it has recorded impressive opening numbers and continues to enjoy a strong theatrical run.
