It has been over a decade since Kriti Sanon made her debut in Heropanti (2014). Since then, she has evolved from a fresh-faced newcomer into a National Award-winning actress and a producer. Reaching her 20th film is a moment even she hadn’t fully tracked until it was pointed out in recent interviews. Her reaction was classic Kriti—surprised, humble, and genuinely excited.
Kriti has described this project as a “vibe sequel” rather than a direct continuation of the 2012 hit that starred Deepika Padukone, Saif Ali Khan, and Diana Penty.
While it carries the iconic name and is directed by Homi Adajania, the story and characters are entirely fresh. It aims to capture the same urban, stylish, and emotionally complex essence of modern relationships that made the first film a cult favorite.
For the first time, Kriti is sharing the screen with Shahid Kapoor and Rashmika Mandanna. She has hinted that the chemistry between the trio brings a “young and fun” energy to the screen..Fans should expect a completely new look for the actress. Working with stylist Anaita Shroff Adajania, Kriti has teased that her appearance in Cocktail 2 is unlike anything she has done before—sleek, modern, and very “urban chic.”
In recent discussions, Kriti was candid about the pressures of the industry. Coming off a big hit like Tere Ishk Mein, many expected her to stick to heavy, “awards-worthy” dramas. However, she’s made it clear that she doesn’t want to give that pressure to her filmmakers or herself.
“Every film is so different,” she noted, “You cannot expect every project to pull the same kind of audience. All you can do is work with honesty and enjoy the process.”
The film has already completed major shooting schedules in locations like Italy the “Sicilian Chapter” and is currently moving into its Mumbai leg. Produced by Dinesh Vijan’s Maddock Films and written by Luv Ranjan, Cocktail 2 is tentatively eyeing a release in the third quarter of 2026 somewhere between August and October.
