In a move that has sent ripples through the film trade, the makers of the beloved comedy franchise Dhamaal have officially announced a change in their release strategy. Originally set for a high-stakes release during the 2026 Eid weekend, Dhamaal 4 will now steer clear of the box office minefield to ensure its own solo success.
The decision comes as the March 2026 window became increasingly crowded with heavy-hitting blockbusters. With Aditya Dhar’s action-packed sequel Dhurandhar 2 (starring Ranveer Singh) and the Yash-led Pan-India spectacle Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups both locked for a March 19 release, industry experts predicted a “triple-threat” clash that could have cannibalized revenues for all involved.
Recognizing the shift in the landscape, producers Ajay Devgn and Bhushan Kumar have moved Dhamaal 4 to a new theatrical date of June 12, 2026.
T-Series recently took to social media to confirm the change with a playful post that mirrored a newspaper headline: “Jaldi bata rahein hain, phir Dhamaal machane bhi toh jaana hai. Stay tuned!”
Trade analysts suggest that the move is less about competition and more about optimization. While Dhurandhar 2 and Toxic cater to an audience seeking high-octane action and intense drama, Dhamaal 4 is a pure family entertainer.
“A three-way clash on Eid would have been a nightmare for exhibitors,” says a veteran film distributor. “By moving to June, Dhamaal 4 isn’t just avoiding a fight; it’s claiming a window where it can be the first choice for families during the tail end of the summer vacations. It’s a classic move: let the action films fight it out, while the comedy finds its own massive, uncontested runway.”
Directed by Indra Kumar, the fourth installment promises to return to the franchise’s roots of slapstick chaos. The film features the iconic “gang” including Ajay Devgn, Riteish Deshmukh, Arshad Warsi, Jaaved Jaaferi, and Sanjay Mishra.
Unlike the jungle-themed adventure of Total Dhamaal, the new chapter reportedly follows Ajay Devgn as an IRS officer caught in a hilarious web of white-collar crime and political blunders. The cast has been further bolstered by the addition of Ravi Kishan, Sanjeeda Shaikh, and Esha Gupta, promising a bigger and louder “laugh riot” than ever before.
