In a move that has sent shockwaves of excitement through the film industry, Shah Rukh Khan and director Siddharth Anand have reportedly finalized the release date for their highly anticipated action-thriller, King. According to industry insiders, the film is now set to hit global screens on December 25, 2026, perfectly timing its arrival with the lucrative Christmas holiday window.
The decision to claim the Christmas slot was not made lightly. Reports suggest that the makers were initially torn between two potential dates: December 4 and December 25. However, after analyzing the 2026 box office calendar, the team decided to push the release to the end of the month.
The primary reason for this shift is to avoid a direct confrontation with Nitesh Tiwari’s magnum opus, Ramayana: Part 1. By choosing Christmas, King ensures a 45-day buffer from the epic saga, allowing both high-budget projects the “breathing space” required to maximize their theatrical runs.
King marks the second collaboration between Shah Rukh Khan and Siddharth Anand following the record-breaking success of Pathaan (2023). While the project was originally conceptualized as a smaller-scale thriller directed by Sujoy Ghosh, it has since evolved into a Rs 350 crore mega-actioner under Anand’s direction.
The film is rumored to be inspired by the Hollywood classic Léon: The Professional, featuring SRK as a sleek, lethal assassin and his daughter, Suhana Khan, as his protégé. This project marks Suhana’s highly anticipated theatrical debut.
Alongside the father-daughter duo, the film reportedly stars Deepika Padukone, Abhishek Bachchan (as the primary antagonist), Anil Kapoor, and Rani Mukerji. Principal photography began in May 2025, with major action sequences filmed on location in Poland and Mumbai.
The soundtrack is being composed by Anirudh Ravichander, the man behind the viral music of Jawan. While Avengers: Doomsday is slated to release a week prior, trade analysts believe the “SRK factor” will ensure a dominant run for King in the domestic and diaspora markets.
“SRK and Sid are clear about maintaining a gap from Ramayana. They don’t want to hurt the business of such a divine saga and have opted for a clean solo run starting December 25,” a source close to the development stated.
While an official announcement from Red Chillies Entertainment and Marflix Pictures is expected in the coming days, the trade remains confident that Christmas 2026 now belongs to the “King.” To know such latest updates tuned to tellyboosters.com Thank you!
