In a industry where the “Three Khans” have reigned supreme for over three decades, the debate over who will eventually take the mantle is never-ending. Recently, Aamir Khan added a fresh perspective to this conversation, finally addressing the viral train sequence from Shah Rukh Khan’s Pathaan that featured a heavy-duty cameo by Salman Khan.
The scene in question—a post-credit sequence where Pathaan (SRK) and Tiger (Salman) sit on a train track and jokingly wonder who can replace them, only to conclude, “Bachchon pe nahi chhod sakte” (We can’t leave it to the kids)—became an instant pop-culture moment. While fans cheered, many saw it as a cheeky dig at the younger generation of Bollywood actors.
“It Was Tongue-in-Cheek”
Speaking in a recent interview with Variety India, Aamir Khan confessed that while he hasn’t watched the full film, he made it a point to see that specific scene on YouTube after hearing so much about it.
“I found the scene really funny,” Aamir said with a laugh. “It was very tongue-in-cheek. It was about the film, but also a bit about life outside the film. I think all the young actors must have been a bit upset! But then again, you can’t really stay mad at Shah Rukh and Salman.”
While the Pathaan scene suggested the “kids” aren’t ready yet, Aamir was quick to disagree, offering a more generous take on the industry’s future. He noted that the younger crop of actors has already proven their worth through their massive hits and transformative performances.
Specifically naming Ranbir Kapoor, Ranveer Singh, and Vicky Kaushal, Aamir suggested that these actors are not just ready, but are perhaps even more skilled.
“Today, those same young actors have shown us that they can give us a run for our money. Look at Animal with Ranbir Kapoor, Chhaava with Vicky Kaushal, or Dhurandhar with Ranveer. They are very capable of taking over from us. In fact, I would say they are very talented actors, perhaps even more talented than we were at that stage.”
Is the Era of Superstars Ending?
Aamir also addressed the growing narrative that the “Khans” are the “last of the Mohicans”—the final true superstars of Indian cinema. He dismissed the idea that stardom is a thing of the past.
“Nobody is indispensable in this world,” Aamir noted groundedlly. “Every generation will have its own heroes. There will always be people who are harder working or more talented who come in and take your place. We won’t be here forever, and it’s wonderful to see this new talent staking their claim.”
Aamir’s comments come at a time when he is preparing for his own next release, Sitaare Zameen Par, while Ranbir Kapoor and Ranveer Singh continue to dominate headlines with their upcoming high-budget projects. To know such latest updates tuned tellyboosters.com Thank you!
