The first glimpse of Ramayana has created a strong buzz not just in India but internationally with audiences in China showing remarkable appreciation for the film’s visuals and scale.
Directed by Nitesh Tiwari and produced by Namit Malhotra the film is being developed as a grand two-part cinematic spectacle. Ever since its announcement Ramayana has been regarded as one of the most ambitious global projects slated for release in 2026.
The makers revealed a glimpse of Lord Ram on the occasion of Hanuman Janmotsav which quickly went viral and sparked discussions across social media platforms worldwide including China where reactions have been largely positive.
Many viewers in China praised the film’s visual quality and scale. Social media users highlighted how the glimpse stood apart with one comment noting that the visuals felt far superior to many fantasy dramas that rely heavily on green screens. Others appreciated the craftsmanship and expressed confidence in Indian mythological storytelling.
The film boasts a stellar cast, with Ranbir Kapoor playing Lord Ram, Sai Pallavi as Sita, Yash portraying Ravana, Sunny Deol as Hanuman and Ravi Dubey as Lakshman.
With a vision to blend traditional storytelling with modern cinematic technology Ramayana aims to deliver an immersive experience on a global scale. The project is produced by Prime Focus Studios in collaboration with DNEG and Monster Mind Creations.
Planned as a two-part epic the film will release worldwide in IMAX with the first part arriving during Diwali 2026 followed by the second installment in Diwali 2027.
