In a move that has sent ripples through the Hindi film industry, the makers of Salman Khan’s upcoming patriotic drama, Maatrubhumi, have officially decided to head back to the drawing board. Following the massive box-office trajectory and critical reception of the spy-thriller Dhurandhar 2, the production team of Maatrubhumi is reportedly restructuring significant portions of the film to ensure it meets the heightened expectations of a 2026 audience.

Originally titled Battle of Galwan, the film was initially conceived as a high-octane war movie centered on the 2020 border clashes. However, sources close to the production indicate that the vision for the project has evolved into something more profound. Now subtitled “May War Rest in Peace,” the film aims to focus on the human cost of conflict and the necessity of diplomacy.

The decision to reshoot comes at a critical juncture. Industry insiders suggest that the technical finesse and narrative depth seen in Aditya Dhar’s Dhurandhar 2 have set a new benchmark for Indian action cinema. To maintain its competitive edge, director Apoorva Lakhia and Salman Khan are adding nearly 40 days of additional filming.

Creative Calibration: The makers want to pivot away from a purely aggressive war narrative to a more “human-centric” story, reflecting the current geopolitical climate where peace is a recurring theme.
The Loss of Prashant Tamang: The sudden passing of actor Prashant Tamang, who played a pivotal role, has necessitated script adjustments. The team is currently evaluating the use of VFX or recasting for certain sequences.

Musical Additions: In a surprising twist, composer Himesh Reshammiya is reportedly working on a new track—a “Chinese song”—that will be integrated into the film to emphasize the cross-border narrative.
Technical Polish: Following the “Tsunami” effect of Dhurandhar 2 at the box office, Salman Khan is reportedly insistent that Maatrubhumi should not be rushed. He has encouraged the team to take their time to ensure the VFX and action choreography are world-class.

The film, which also stars Chitrangda Singh, was originally slated for an April 17, 2026, release. However, due to the new filming schedule at the Golden Tobacco Factory in Mumbai and other locations, the release date has been pushed.

“Salman is clear that such a special, patriotic film needs to be nurtured well,” a source revealed. “He has told the team that they should not rush the process and ensure the final product looks appealing, compelling, and cinematic.”

As the industry watches closely, Maatrubhumi represents more than just another “Bhai” blockbuster; it is a test of how traditional superstars adapt to the changing tastes of a post-Dhurandhar cinema landscape. To know such latest updates tuned tellyboosters.com Thank you!
