Renowned actor Sara Arjun, who has been receiving widespread acclaim for her recent performance in the blockbuster film Dhurandhar: The Revenge, visited the holy city of Ujjain on Saturday to offer prayers at the Shree Mahakaleshwar Temple.

The visit, which coincided with her mother’s birthday, saw the actor participating in the world-famous Bhasma Aarti, a sacred ritual performed during the early morning hours.

Dressed in a traditional saree, Sara Arjun joined hundreds of devotees in the temple’s sanctum sanctorum for the ceremony, which begins during the Brahma Muhurta (between 3:30 AM and 5:30 AM). The Bhasma Aarti is unique to the Mahakaleshwar Jyotirlinga, involving the application of sacred ash to the deity amidst the resonant sounds of conch shells and rhythmic chants.

Speaking to the media after the ritual, an emotional Sara expressed her gratitude, stating that she felt a “divine calling” to visit the shrine.
“I have no words to describe the experience. There is no better feeling than this in the world. I am overjoyed and still in awe of the spiritual energy here,” she said.

The actor’s visit comes at a high point in her career. Her latest film, Dhurandhar 2, has reportedly crossed the ₹1,600 crore mark at the global box office, following the massive success of its predecessor. Despite the professional milestones, Sara noted that her prayers were focused on general well-being rather than specific requests.

“I didn’t ask for anything specific,” she shared. “I just prayed for health, wealth, and success for everyone. Coming here on my mother’s birthday made it even more special and positive for me.”

The Mahakaleshwar Temple is one of the twelve Jyotirlingas dedicated to Lord Shiva. The Bhasma Aarti is its most significant daily ritual, symbolizing the cycle of life, death, and the eternal nature of the soul.

As rumors swirl about her next major project—potentially portraying the legendary Madhubala in a highly anticipated biopic—Sara maintained that she is leaving her future in “God’s hands,” cherishing the peace found during her pilgrimage to Ujjain. To
