Born in 1933 in Sangli, Maharashtra, Asha Bhosle’s career began in the 1940s. While she spent her early years in the shadow of her elder sister, the late Lata Mangeshkar, Asha soon carved out a unique identity. Known for her incredible versatility, she could transition effortlessly from soulful ghazals and classical melodies to high-energy cabaret numbers and pop tracks.

With over 12,000 songs recorded in more than 20 languages, her collaborations with legendary composers like O.P. Nayyar, S.D. Burman, and her late husband R.D. Burman created the soundtrack of a century. From the sultry “Aao Huzoor Tumko” to the peppy “Dum Maro Dum,” her voice was synonymous with the vivacity of Bollywood.

Speaking to reporters, Aamir Khan was visibly moved. “For the whole industry, for the whole country, this is a big loss. It is the end of an era. We are all her family, and we pray that her soul rests in peace.”

The Oscar-winning composer AR Rahman who worked with her on several hits, posted a simple yet powerful tribute: “She lives forever with her voice and aura. What an artist.”

The veteran actress and politician Hema Malini expressed her disbelief. “I just can’t believe how someone so full of life has left us grieving. She lent so much character to her songs. It is a huge loss for India.”

The cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar called it a “deeply sad day,” thanking the singer for “filling our lives with warmth, grace, and unforgettable music.”

Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his deep sadness, noting that her musical journey enriched India’s cultural heritage. “She will continue to inspire generations, and her songs will forever echo in people’s lives,” the PM said in a statement.

The singer’s mortal remains will be kept at her residence, Casa Grande in Lower Parel, until Monday morning to allow fans and colleagues to pay their respects. The state funeral is expected to be attended by the biggest names in Indian cinema, politics, and sports.

Asha Bhosle’s legacy extends beyond the recording studio. An entrepreneur with a successful chain of restaurants and a recipient of the Dadasaheb Phalke Award and the Padma Vibhushan, she remained a symbol of resilience and constant reinvention. Though she has left the world, her voice remains an eternal part of the Indian soul. To know such latest updates tuned tellyboosters.com Thank you!
