In a spectacular twist of movie magic, parts of Mumbai are being dramatically transformed into a dense, sprawling wilderness for the climax shoot of the much-awaited film, Welcome to the Jungle. The production is currently in full swing, featuring the dynamic duo of Akshay Kumar and Suniel Shetty, alongside a massive ensemble cast.
The makers of the film, directed by Ahmed Khan and produced by Firoz A. Nadiadwala, have constructed elaborate, massive jungle sets that stretch across several key locations in Mumbai, including Film City, Royal Palms, Borivali, and two spots within the Aarey Colony.
This incredible effort to create an immersive jungle environment right in the heart of the city comes after the production team decided to shift the shoot from the original planned location in the forests of North India, possibly Uttar Pradesh. The biting cold weather in the North and the logistical nightmares of filming high-octane action sequences with a huge crew of around 500 people and a large cast of 34 actors in a real forest proved too challenging.
The climax sequence, which began filming around December 5, is reported to be an action-packed finale requiring a controlled environment for the elaborate stunt setups. This strategic decision to build the massive sets in Mumbai allows the unit to manage the large-scale production without having to leave the city, ensuring smooth and safer filming of the intricate action scenes.
However, it’s understood that the crew will briefly travel to North India later to capture the essential aerial and establishing shots of real jungles—the kind of vast, wide views that even the best set dressing cannot fully replicate.
The film, which is an adventure-comedy, boasts a star-studded lineup that also includes Paresh Rawal, Arshad Warsi, Raveena Tandon, Jacqueline Fernandez, Lara Dutta, and Disha Patani, among many others. Director Ahmed Khan has expressed his excitement about the shoot, noting that while coordinating the schedules of so many actors was a challenge, being on set with them has been a non-stop “party” filled with natural chemistry, especially from the iconic trio of Akshay, Suniel, and Paresh Rawal.
