The world of digital transactions can often be a double-edged sword, as recently discovered by Ayushmaan Sethi, the younger son of veteran actress Archana Puran Singh and Parmeet Sethi. In a candid revelation shared through a family vlog, Ayushmaan detailed a distressing experience where he was scammed of approximately ₹84,000. The incident reportedly took place on the PlayStation Network, which had allegedly been compromised by hackers. Ayushmaan explained that the unauthorized transaction happened quite suddenly, leaving him shocked as a significant amount was debited from his credit card without any prior warning or his consent. The situation was particularly frustrating as the scammers managed to bypass security measures, making it a “big news” event that even caught the attention of the Mumbai Cyber Crime branch.

As the news of the fraud surfaced, the family’s reaction was a mix of genuine concern and their trademark humor. During the vlog, his elder brother Aaryamann Sethi teased him about being a “regular customer” for fraudsters, recalling a separate past incident where Ayushmaan had lost nearly ₹80,000 in another online trap. Despite the initial panic and the family banter, Ayushmaan took swift action by reporting the fraudulent activity to his credit card company. He spent considerable time navigating automated customer service lines and providing the necessary documentation to prove that the transaction was not authorized. Fortunately, his persistence paid off as the credit card company eventually approved his claim and refunded the entire amount, bringing a huge sense of relief to the youngster.

The incident has served as a major learning curve for the family, with Archana Puran Singh herself recalling a time she was duped of ₹30,000 while booking tickets for an indoor skydiving experience on a fake website in Dubai. Because of his experience, Ayushmaan has been approached by the Cyber Crime branch to participate in an awareness campaign, which will include an interview with filmmaker Rohit Shetty to educate the public on spotting digital scams. While the money was recovered through the bank’s protection policies, Ayushmaan clarified that the actual scammers were never caught, highlighting the importance of remaining vigilant in an era of increasing cyber-attacks. His story ends on a positive note, not just because the funds were returned, but because it is now being used to help others avoid similar financial pitfalls in the future.
