In an industry often driven by complex scripts and high-stakes negotiations, Arshad Warsi has reminded fans that sometimes, the best decisions are made from the heart. The veteran actor, beloved for his iconic role as Circuit in the Munna Bhai series, recently revealed why he didn’t hesitate for a second before saying “yes” to Aryan Khan’s directorial debut, The Bads of Bollywood.

A Decision Beyond the Script
While most actors spend weeks analyzing a screenplay before signing a project, Arshad Warsi took a completely different approach for the Netflix series. Speaking in a recent interview, Warsi confessed that he didn’t even ask to see a script when the offer came his way.

“I did it for Aryan and for King [Shah Rukh Khan] because I truly like them as people,” Warsi shared. “If they ask me to do something, I’ll do it. There’s no rocket science behind it.”

The actor explained that his involvement was fueled by his long-standing respect and deep affection for Shah Rukh Khan and his family. When Aryan called him for what was essentially a one-to-two-day shoot, Arshad’s response was immediate: “Just tell me when and where to show up.”

The “Somalia” Moment: Finding Faith in a Young Director
Despite the project being Aryan Khan’s first foray into direction, Warsi was quickly impressed by the young filmmaker’s clarity. He recalled a humorous anecdote from the set involving his character, an underworld don named Ghafoor Ismail.

While filming a scene involving a boat full of men, Arshad asked Aryan where the boat was supposed to be coming from. Aryan’s quick, imaginative reply—”Sir, it might be coming from Somalia”—instantly won Arshad over.

“The moment he said that, I understood what kind of director he is,” Warsi remarked. “He has a very different mind. He knows exactly what he wants, even if it seems a bit unconventional. As an actor, you just have to trust that vision.”

The Rise of Ghafoor
Even though it was a brief appearance, Warsi’s portrayal of Ghafoor has become a viral sensation. The character, a quirky gangster who constantly bails out the hero, resonated with audiences—largely due to Warsi’s signature comic timing and a catchy entry song that he hadn’t even heard until the show was nearly finished.

The actor’s philosophy on the role was simple:
Conviction over Screen Time: “Do one scene, but do it so well that the audience can’t take their eyes off you.” Loyalty: His bond with the Khans outweighed any need for a leading role.

Tehzeeb: He praised Aryan and Suhana Khan for being incredibly well-mannered and hardworking, noting that they have “not an ounce of bad behavior.”

Fans of Ghafoor may not have seen the last of him. Warsi hinted that there is already talk of the character returning for a second season. Beyond the digital space, the actor is also reuniting with Shah Rukh Khan and Suhana Khan for the upcoming big-screen action-thriller King, directed by Siddharth Anand.
