Popular rapper and singer Badshah has found himself in the middle of a major legal storm. Following the release of his latest Haryanvi track, ‘Tateeree,’ an FIR was registered against him in Panchkula, Haryana, citing concerns over “objectionable” lyrics and visuals. In a swift response to the growing public outcry, the artist issued a heartfelt apology on Saturday, referring to himself as a “son of Haryana” and asking for the public’s forgiveness.

The Controversy Unleashed
The song ‘Tateeree,’ which was intended to celebrate Haryanvi culture, quickly became the center of a heated debate. Critics and social activists pointed out specific portions of the lyrics and music video that they deemed inappropriate.

Key issues raised by the authorities and complainants include:
Depiction of Minors: The music video allegedly showed young girls in school uniforms engaging in suggestive dancing. Misrepresentation of Schools: The use of terms like “Badshala” was criticized for portraying educational environments in a misleading light.

Offensive Lyrics: Several women’s organizations and local residents filed complaints alleging that the song contained derogatory language and sexualized references that objectified women.

The Haryana State Commission for Women (HSCW) took suo motu cognisance of the matter, with Chairperson Renu Bhatia summoning the rapper to explain the artistic choices behind the track.

Legal Heat and Look Out Circular
The legal pressure intensified as the Panchkula Cyber Police registered the FIR under Section 296 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (relating to obscene acts and songs) and the Indecent Representation of Women (Prohibition) Act, 1986.

In a significant escalation, the Haryana Police initiated the process to issue a Look Out Circular (LOC) against Badshah to prevent him from traveling abroad while the investigation is active. Police teams have also reportedly conducted raids at various locations to facilitate his appearance for questioning.

Badshah’s Official Response
Taking to Instagram, Badshah shared a video message to address the controversy directly. Visibly concerned, the rapper clarified that his intentions were never to cause harm.
“I am a proud Haryanvi. Those who know me know that my identity is rooted in the language, food, and culture of Haryana. I never intended to say anything objectionable against any woman or child,” Badshah stated in his video.

He explained that the competitive nature of the hip-hop genre often involves lyrics meant to “look down on competitors,” but he admitted that the message was misunderstood and caused genuine hurt. To show his commitment to rectifying the situation, he announced that the song is being removed from all digital platforms.

“I hope that you will forgive me, considering me a son of Haryana, your own son,” he added in his closing remarks.

What’s Next?
While the song is being pulled down, the legal proceedings remain in motion. Badshah has been directed to appear before the police immediately to join the investigation. The authorities are also looking into whether proper permissions were obtained for filming in government locations, such as using a Haryana Roadways bus. To know such
