Renowned filmmaker Boney Kapoor has shared an ambitious vision for the upcoming International Film City in Noida, describing it as a project that will not only transform the Indian film industry but also become a massive engine for job creation in the region.

Speaking at the inauguration of the Noida International Airport at Jewar on Saturday, Kapoor expressed his excitement about the synergy between the new aviation hub and the massive film production complex. As a partner in Bayview Projects, the firm tasked with developing the project alongside the Bhutani Group, Kapoor emphasized that the Film City is poised to put Uttar Pradesh on the global cinematic map.

A Hub for Employment and Innovation
One of the most significant takeaways from Kapoor’s address was the sheer scale of opportunity the project represents. According to the filmmaker, the project is expected to generate approximately 500,000 jobs, ranging from technical roles in production to hospitality and tourism.

“The film city will begin soon, possibly before the elections. It will generate maximum employment. I am not just helping the development; I am being part of it,” Kapoor told reporters.

The project is being developed in a phased manner over 1,000 acres in Sector 21, along the Yamuna Expressway. The first phase, covering 230 acres, is already seeing active work. Kapoor noted that shooting has already commenced at certain sites, and major portions of the infrastructure are expected to be ready sooner than anticipated.

Infrastructure and World-Class Facilities
The International Film City isn’t just about sound stages. It is designed to be a comprehensive ecosystem for creators. Key features of the project include:

State-of-the-Art Studios: Equipped with the latest technology for virtual production and high-end cinematography.
Film University: A dedicated institute to train the next generation of storytellers, editors, and technicians.
Post-Production Hubs: Comprehensive facilities for VFX, color grading, and sound design.

Tourism & Leisure: The site will feature “Char Dham” themed sets, galleries resembling the Parliament House, and luxury hotels to attract tourists.

The “Airport Effect”
Kapoor highlighted that the operationalization of the Noida International Airport is a “game-changer” for the project. The proximity to an international gateway makes it easy for global filmmakers and actors to access the site.

“As the airport becomes operational, an international film city will also take shape soon,” Kapoor said. He added that the influx of various industries to the region would benefit the entire country’s economy, reinforcing the idea that growth in Uttar Pradesh is synonymous with the growth of India.

Sustainability and Local Growth
The project also places a heavy emphasis on sustainability. Most of the studios are planned to run on solar energy, with panels installed on rooftops to minimize the carbon footprint. Furthermore, the development team has pledged to give priority in training and employment to local youth from the Yamuna Expressway region, ensuring that the community directly benefits from the project’s success.

With the first phase targeted for completion within the next few years, the Noida International Film City is set to offer a “one-stop destination” where a filmmaker can arrive with a script and leave with a finished film.
