Chand Mera Dil box office collection day 6: Lakshya, Ananya Panday film continues lacklustre run, crosses ₹16 crore

The newly released romantic drama Chand Mera Dil, featuring the fresh pairing of Lakshya and Ananya Panday, is finding it difficult to establish a strong foothold at the box office. Directed by Vivek Soni and produced under the banner of Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions, the movie entered its first week with a lot of expectations but has met with a rather muted response from the audience. After a lukewarm opening weekend where it brought in just over eleven crore rupees, the film has faced the inevitable weekday drop that usually impacts mid-budget releases. By the conclusion of its sixth day in theatres, the movie continued its lacklustre run across the country, managed to add only minimal numbers to its daily business, and just about managed to cross the sixteen crore rupees mark in terms of its total domestic net collection.

The downward trend for the film became clearly evident right from the start of the regular workweek, as the box office numbers fell significantly on Monday compared to the initial weekend business. Even a special discounted ticket pricing strategy introduced by the makers on Tuesday under promotional schemes, which brought down theater entry costs to less than one hundred rupees, failed to draw major crowds or improve overall theater occupancy. The film’s theatrical journey is currently encountering tough competition from major Hollywood projects like Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu, alongside holdover Bollywood releases such as the Ayushmann Khurrana starrer Pati Patni Aur Woh Do, which have successfully diverted a large chunk of the moviegoing audience.

Industry experts note that the grounded college romance storyline, which touches upon real-world themes like relationship responsibilities and early maturity, initially received a mixed bag of reviews from both film critics and general viewers. While several audience members appreciated the performances and praised the chemistry between the main actors, others felt that the narrative structure lacked the necessary commercial punch to keep people hooked to the big screen. With the total worldwide gross figures crawling past the twenty crore rupees milestone due to an equally quiet performance in the overseas markets, the film’s lifetime domestic collection looks unlikely to hit the twenty-five crore mark, making its upcoming second weekend absolutely crucial for any minor recovery before it ultimately transitions to its scheduled digital streaming release.
