In a development that has sent ripples through the Indian film industry, Global Star Ram Charan and legendary auteur Sanjay Leela Bhansali are reportedly joining forces for a massive cinematic project. Breaking away from the traditional high-drama sets usually associated with Bhansali, this upcoming venture is being described as a historical jungle adventure drama mounted on a pan-India scale.
The collaboration marks a significant moment for both artists. While Bhansali is known for his opulent period pieces like Padmaavat and Bajirao Mastani, this project promises a rugged, wilder aesthetic. For Ram Charan, who became a household name across the north after the global success of RRR, this film represents a strategic move to solidify his presence in the Hindi-speaking market with a production directly backed by one of Bollywood’s most respected filmmakers.
The project reportedly has a unique backstory. According to industry insiders, the script finds its roots in material originally penned by the veteran writer KV Vijayendra Prasad (of Baahubali and RRR fame) for a potential sequel to Rowdy Rathore.
When that version didn’t proceed, the narrative was significantly reworked and reimagined by writer Durgesh Singh (known for Gullak). The story was then tailored to fit Ram Charan’s heroic persona, evolving into a high-octane adventure set deep within a historical wilderness.
This is not the first time the duo has explored a partnership. In 2024, there were advanced talks for an adaptation of Amish Tripathi’s bestselling book, The Legend of Suheldev. However, due to various logistical reasons and scheduling conflicts, that project never made it to the floors.
Sources suggest that both Bhansali and Charan remained keen on working together, leading to the development of this new jungle saga. Interestingly, rumors had previously linked Allu Arjun to a similar collaboration with Bhansali, but the project has now firmly landed with the Game Changer star.
While Bhansali is producing the film under his banner, Sanjay Leela Bhansali Productions, whispers from the trade indicate that another top-tier Bollywood director may be brought on board to helm the project, allowing Bhansali to focus on his ambitious musical Love & War.
Both the actor and the filmmaker have packed schedules ahead:
Ram Charan: Currently gearing up for the release of his high-budget political thriller Game Changer and the highly anticipated sports drama Peddi (RC16) with Janhvi Kapoor.
Sanjay Leela Bhansali: Deep in the production of Love & War, featuring the powerhouse trio of Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, and Vicky Kaushal.
The untitled jungle adventure is expected to be shot primarily in Hindi to maintain its core flavor, with simultaneous releases planned in Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, and Kannada.
With the combined might of Bhansali’s visual storytelling and Ram Charan’s global stardom, this project is already being touted as one of the most anticipated Indian films of the coming years. To
