Veteran comedian and Bollywood actor Rajpal Yadav is set to walk out of Tihar Jail after the Delhi High Court granted him interim bail on Monday. The relief comes after the actor deposited ₹1.5 crore with the complainant, M/s Murli Projects Pvt Ltd, satisfying a stern condition set by the court earlier that afternoon.

The Court’s Mandate
During the hearing on Monday morning, Justice Swarana Kanta Sharma made it clear that the suspension of the actor’s sentence was contingent on immediate payment. The court had initially given Yadav until 3:00 PM to submit a demand draft of ₹1.5 crore.

In addition to the deposit, Yadav was directed to Furnish a personal bond of ₹1 lakh. Provide one surety of an equivalent amount. Surrender his passport and remain in the country. Attend the next hearing either physically or virtually.

A Family Occasion and Industry Support
The actor had sought bail specifically to attend his niece’s wedding, scheduled for February 19 in Shahjahanpur, Uttar Pradesh. The court noted this personal ground while granting the temporary reprieve.

The case has seen a wave of support from the film fraternity. Actors like Sonu Sood, Salman Khan, and Ajay Devgn reportedly extended their support to Yadav during his time in custody. Sonu Sood recently took to social media to call Yadav a “rare talent” and urged the industry to stand by him, emphasizing that financial assistance in such times is about “dignity, not charity.”

Background: The ₹9 Crore Legal Battle
The legal troubles for the Bhool Bhulaiyaa star trace back to 2010, when he reportedly borrowed ₹5 crore from the Delhi-based firm Murali Projects to fund his directorial debut, Ata Pata Laapata.

Following the film’s poor performance at the box office, Yadav struggled to repay the loan. Over the years, interest and penalties caused the debt to swell to approximately ₹9 crore. In 2018, a magisterial court convicted Yadav and his wife, Radha, under Section 138 of the Negotiable Instruments Act after seven cheques issued by the actor were dishonored.

After multiple failed settlement agreements and warnings from the High Court regarding “repeated breaches of undertaking,” Yadav surrendered at Tihar Jail on February 5, 2026, to serve a six-month sentence.

Upcoming Press Conference
Following the news of his bail, Rajpal Yadav’s manager, Goldie, expressed immense relief, stating it was a “happy day” for the actor’s family and fans. He further confirmed that the actor intends to address the media and his supporters directly.

“He will soon hold a press conference to address the issue and talk about the situation. It will happen in a day or two,” his manager stated.

The press conference is expected to provide clarity on the actor’s plan to settle the remaining dues and his perspective on the decade-long legal battle that has temporarily halted his prolific career. To know such latest updates tuned tellyboosters.com Thank you!
