From Center Stage to the Cutting Room Floor: Aarti Chhabria Opens Up About Her Bollywood Journey

In an industry where “visibility” is the ultimate currency, actor Aarti Chhabria has recently shed light on a frustrating reality many outsiders never see: the disappearing act. Known for her roles in hits like Awara Paagal Deewana and Shootout at Lokhandwala, Chhabria recently revealed that her presence on screen was often much smaller than the work she actually put in on set.

“Chopped and Reduced”
Speaking candidly about her career trajectory, Aarti shared a sentiment that has resonated with many of her peers. She noted that her roles were “chopped off or reduced” so many times that, in some instances, she felt like a ghost in her own projects.

One of the most striking examples she shared involved the 2010 film Milenge Milenge. Despite filming a complete song sequence with Shahid Kapoor, the entire segment was scrapped in the final edit. “I had a full song… but it was cut,” she remarked, highlighting how months of rehearsal and filming can be erased with a single decision from a producer or director.

The Bittersweet Side of Hits
The phenomenon wasn’t limited to smaller projects. Even in blockbusters like Partner (2007), starring Salman Khan and Govinda, Aarti’s contribution was significantly altered. While she is credited with a cameo, she revealed that her role was originally intended to be much more substantial.

Interestingly, Aarti doesn’t hold a grudge. She maintains a grounded perspective on the “politics” of the edit:
“You don’t know why these decisions are taken. We actors always respect the producer’s decision… What matters is that the film did well at the end of the day.”

Life Beyond the Big Screen
While she has largely moved away from the limelight to focus on her personal life—marrying Visharad Beedassy in 2019 and becoming a mother in 2024—her story serves as a reminder of the unpredictability of cinema.

Today, Aarti has reinvented herself as a filmmaker (directing the award-winning Mumbai Varanasi Express) and a motivational speaker, proving that even if a role is cut from a film, the actor’s journey continues far beyond the frame. To
