Music composer and filmmaker Palash Muchhal has issued a stern response to a wave of online trolling and “cheating” allegations that have intensified following the recent cancellation of his wedding. In a series of social media updates, the artist condemned the viral rumors as an attempt to tarnish his reputation and confirmed that he is pursuing legal avenues to silence his detractors.
The controversy began in late 2025 when Muchhal’s wedding to Indian cricket icon Smriti Mandhana was unexpectedly called off. While the official reason cited was a family medical emergency, the internet was quickly flooded with unverified claims of infidelity.
Social media platforms, particularly X and Reddit, became a breeding ground for rumors suggesting Muchhal had been “caught red-handed” with a wedding choreographer. These claims were further fueled by cryptic social media activity from Mandhana’s teammates and the removal of wedding photos from her Instagram profile.
Breaking his silence this week, Muchhal addressed the noise directly. On his Instagram Stories, he lashed out at those spreading what he termed “factually incorrect” information.
“It’s been very difficult for me to see people react so easily to baseless rumors about something which has been most sacred to me,” Muchhal stated. “These claims are being made with malicious intent to tarnish my reputation, and they will not go unchallenged.”
His lawyer, Shreyansh Mithare, has reportedly begun identifying specific accounts and news outlets that have amplified the defamatory content. Muchhal emphasized that he had initially stayed quiet to protect the privacy of both families but felt compelled to speak up as the “character assassination” reached a breaking point.
The personal scandal has been compounded by fresh legal allegations. A producer from Sangli, Vidnyan Mane, recently filed a police complaint accusing Muchhal of a ₹40 lakh financial fraud related to a film project titled Nazaria.
Muchhal has dismissed these financial claims as equally meritless, suggesting they are being leveraged by individuals looking to capitalize on the current social media frenzy. “This matter will be dealt with strictly through the appropriate legal channels,” he added.
The reaction from the public remains split. While many of Mandhana’s fans continue to criticize Muchhal based on the viral rumors, a segment of the industry has come to his defense, urging the public to wait for facts rather than “trial by social media.” Muchhal’s sister, singer Palak Muchhal, has also been a steady pillar of support, calling for empathy during what she describes as a “difficult personal phase” for her brother.
As the legal battle begins, Muchhal seems determined to move past the drama, recently announcing new directorial projects. However, the shadow of the “cheating” claims continues to linger, serving as a stark reminder of the speed at which unverified digital rumors can impact real-world reputations.
