The historical epic Raja Shivaji, directed by and starring Riteish Deshmukh, has officially entered a crucial phase in its theatrical journey as it completed its eleventh day at the box office. After a powerhouse performance during its second weekend, the film has successfully crossed the prestigious ₹70 crore mark in India net collections. This achievement solidifies its position as one of the most successful Marathi-language productions in recent years, proving the immense draw of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’s legacy on the big screen. However, following the typical trend for big-budget releases, the movie witnessed a noticeable dip in its earnings on the second Monday. Trade analysts noted that after the high footfalls seen on Saturday and Sunday, where the film regained significant momentum, the working day saw a natural decline in occupancy across both its Marathi and Hindi versions.

Despite the second Monday slowdown, the film’s cumulative performance remains highly impressive. Raja Shivaji had already set a strong foundation in its opening week, netting over ₹52 crore and breaking several records for regional cinema. The second weekend further bolstered its totals, with Sunday alone bringing in approximately ₹8 crore to push the net figures past the ₹68 crore milestone by the end of Day 10. By the close of Day 11, the domestic net collection is estimated to have comfortably settled above ₹70 crore, while the gross collections are nearing the ₹82 crore mark. While the Hindi-dubbed version has contributed a steady share, the Marathi version continues to be the primary driver of growth, particularly within the Maharashtra circuit where the film has become a cultural phenomenon.

Produced by Genelia D’Souza and Jyoti Deshpande, the film has benefited greatly from its star-studded ensemble and high production values. While Riteish Deshmukh carries the titular role with gravitas, the presence of actors like Sanjay Dutt, Abhishek Bachchan, and a much-talked-about cameo by Salman Khan as Jiva Mahala has provided the necessary “pan-India” appeal. The film is currently on track to overtake the lifetime collections of other Marathi blockbusters like Baipan Bhari Deva, and trade experts are keeping a close watch to see if it can eventually challenge the ₹90 crore record held by Sairat. While the weekday dip is a reality every film faces, Raja Shivaji still holds a significant number of screens and remains the first choice for family audiences, ensuring a steady run as it marches toward the elusive ₹100 crore club.
