In a revelation that has sent shockwaves of excitement through the Indian film industry, superstar Ranbir Kapoor has officially confirmed that he will be portraying a double role in Nitesh Tiwari’s upcoming magnum opus, Ramayan. While it was long known that Kapoor would step into the shoes of Lord Ram, the actor recently disclosed that he will also be playing the fierce warrior-sage, Lord Parshuram.

The announcement comes on the heels of the film’s first teaser release, titled “Rama,” which gave audiences a glimpse of the scale and visual grandeur of the project. During a recent promotional event, Kapoor spoke about the spiritual and creative depth required to play two distinct incarnations of Lord Vishnu in a single narrative.

A Tale of Two Avatars
In Hindu mythology, both Lord Ram and Lord Parshuram are considered Dashavatara (ten primary avatars) of Vishnu. While they exist in the same timeline during a pivotal moment in the Ramayan—specifically after Ram breaks the divine bow of Shiva—their personalities are polar opposites.

Lord Ram: Representing Maryada and composure.
Lord Parshuram: Known for his intense temperament and unparalleled warrior prowess.

“Lord Vishnu had different avatars. Lord Ram is one, and Lord Parshuram was an avatar before him,” Kapoor explained during an interview with Collider. “To get the opportunity to represent both versions of the divine on screen is a responsibility I don’t take lightly.”

Deep Preparation for a Dual Challenge
Playing a double role in a film of this magnitude required more than just costume changes. Kapoor reportedly spent over a year preparing for the project, focusing on the internal “emotionality and spirituality” of the characters.

The actor noted that while Lord Ram requires a sense of “calmness and balance,” Parshuram demands a “fierce, intense energy.” This marks Kapoor’s second foray into double roles, following his performance in the 2022 film Shamshera.

Global Collaboration and Stellar Cast
Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayan is being positioned as one of the most expensive and ambitious projects in Indian cinema history, with a reported budget of ₹4,000 crore. The production has pulled out all the stops, involving global talents to ensure a world-class cinematic experience:

The film’s soundtrack is also a major talking point, featuring a historic collaboration between Academy Award winner A.R. Rahman and legendary composer Hans Zimmer.
Release Schedule

The epic will be told in two parts to capture the full depth of the Valmiki Ramayan.
Part 1: Scheduled for a Diwali 2026 release.
Part 2: Expected to follow in Diwali 2027.

As the “Rama” teaser continues to trend globally, fans are now eagerly waiting to see the first look of Kapoor as the axe-wielding Parshuram, a character that promises to bring a high-octane edge to this ancient tale. To know such latest updates tuned tellyboosters.com Thank you!
