Rohit Shetty and Ajay Devgn Set to Kickstart ‘Golmaal 5’ This February- Reports

The wait for India’s most beloved comedy franchise is finally drawing to a close. Director Rohit Shetty and superstar Ajay Devgn are reportedly ready to take Golmaal 5 on floors in late February 2026. After years of speculation and “coming soon” promises, the duo is shifting gears from the high-octane action of the Cop Universe to the chaotic, colorful world of Jamnadas Orphanage and its five eccentric “boys.”

Rohit Shetty has spent a significant portion of the last few years expanding his action portfolio, most recently with Singham Again. However, the filmmaker recently expressed a desire to return to his comedy roots. Currently, Shetty is wrapping up a biopic on former Mumbai Police Commissioner Rakesh Maria, featuring John Abraham. Once that project is off his plate by the end of January, his entire focus will shift toward the pre-production and filming of the fifth Golmaal installment.

According to industry insiders, the team has planned an extensive marathon schedule that will begin in late February and likely run through July. This non-stop filming block is designed to capture the vibrant energy and ensemble chemistry that the franchise is known for. While Goa remains the “spiritual home” of the series, the production is expected to span multiple locations to give this fifth chapter a grander scale.

The core gang—Ajay Devgn, Arshad Warsi, Tusshar Kapoor, Shreyas Talpade, and Kunal Kemmu—is expected to reunite, bringing back the signature banter that fans have missed since Golmaal Again (2017). There is also strong buzz regarding Kareena Kapoor Khan’s return to the franchise, potentially reprising a role that adds a touch of nostalgia to the mix.

Sources close to the project suggest that the script for Golmaal 5 is “funnier than the previous four films,” exploring a concept that hasn’t been touched upon in the earlier installments. The goal is to retain the classic slapstick humor while introducing a fresh narrative hook for the modern audience.

While the cameras start rolling next month, fans will have to wait a bit longer for the theatrical release. With a heavy post-production phase involving Shetty’s trademark scale and visual flair, the makers are currently eyeing a release in the first half of 2027.

As Ajay Devgn wraps up his work on Drishyam 3, his transition into the role of Gopal promises to be the “laughter therapy” that Bollywood fans have been craving. To know such latest updates tuned to tellyboosters.com Thank you!
