Rohit Shetty Kicks Off Golmaal 5: Massive Sets Rising in Film City

The wait is nearly over for fans of Gopal, Madhav, Lucky, and the two Laxmans. Director Rohit Shetty has officially shifted into high gear for Golmaal 5, with reports confirming that construction for the film’s elaborate sets has already begun at Mumbai’s iconic Film City.

In a surprising move, Shetty—who famously favors the sprawling landscapes of Goa or the controlled environments of Ramoji Film City in Hyderabad—has chosen to anchor this installment in Mumbai. The decision is reportedly a win for the star-studded cast, allowing the ensemble to stay close to home during what is expected to be a grueling “marathon” shooting schedule.

The production design for the fifth installment is as grand as ever. Work is currently underway on several key locations within the Film City complex. A fully functional, vibrant café set is being erected, likely to serve as the new hangout spot for the gang’s chaotic schemes.

True to the “Shetty Cinematic Universe” style, a detailed police station is being built. Whether this hints at a crossover with his famous Cop Universe or simply a new setting for Golmaal’s trademark slapstick trouble remains to be seen.

Reports also mention a lavish mansion set, which has become a staple for the series’ climax sequences.

The scale of the project hasn’t been without its challenges. Initial reports suggested the production team considered filling a section of a local lake to expand the set. However, due to the presence of crocodiles and environmental regulations within the Film City ecosystem, the team pivoted. Shetty and his crew have now opted to build around the natural landscape, ensuring the film’s visual “grandeur” doesn’t come at the cost of the local wildlife.

The original “Fab Five” are set to return, with Ajay Devgn leading the pack alongside Arshad Warsi, Tusshar Kapoor, Shreyas Talpade, and Kunal Kemmu. Rumors are swirling that Sharman Joshi, who starred in the original 2006 film, may finally reunite with the gang.

Fresh reports suggest the film might feature a female villain this time, adding a new dynamic to the comedy. Filming is slated to begin in late February 2026, immediately after Rohit Shetty wraps up his biopic on Rakesh Maria.
With a release targeted for the first half of 2027, Golmaal 5 is shaping up to be the biggest comedy event in years. To know such latest updates tuned to tellyboosters.com Thank you!
