In a display of industry solidarity, Bollywood actor Salman Khan has come out in support of veteran comedian Rajpal Yadav. The move follows an incident at a recent awards show where Yadav was teased about his financial struggles and legal issues.

The controversy began during the Chetak Screen Awards 2026 in Mumbai. During a segment featuring journalist Saurabh Dwivedi and comedian Zakir Khan, Rajpal Yadav made a comment about the global economy, noting how the fluctuating value of the rupee and the dollar was making it difficult to understand anything.

The situation took an awkward turn when Dwivedi responded with a jab, referencing Yadav’s high-profile cheque-bounce case. He remarked that no matter how much the currency fluctuates, the amount owed remains the same. While the audience laughed, many social media users called the comment insensitive, noting that Yadav appeared uncomfortable despite maintaining a polite smile.

Taking to his official social media handle on Tuesday, April 7, Salman Khan penned a supportive note for his colleague. Rather than focusing on the controversy, Khan chose to highlight Yadav’s contribution to Indian cinema over the last three decades.

Salman wrote that Rajpal has been working for 30 years and that filmmakers have cast him repeatedly because he knows his craft and brings real value. Addressing the dollar remark directly, Salman added that Rajpal would continue to get plenty of work at the same dollar rate. He suggested that sometimes things get said in the flow and that regardless of whether the dollar goes up or down, the work remains the priority.

The comedian expressed his gratitude to Salman Khan shortly after. Replying to the post, Yadav called Salman a guiding figure and thanked him for acknowledging his 30-year journey, stating that Salman has always shown him the way like an elder brother.

Rajpal Yadav has since released a video message urging his fans not to attack the hosts of the show. He clarified that the exchange was part of a segment and that he holds no ill will toward Saurabh Dwivedi or Zakir Khan, calling them his younger brothers.

Despite the clarification, the incident has sparked a wider conversation online regarding the boundaries of humor, especially when it involves an individual’s personal hardships. For now, the intervention from the superstar seems to have shifted the focus back to celebrating a veteran’s career. To know such latest updates tuned tellyboosters.com Thank you!
