Salman Khan Shuts Down Trolls Over ‘Romantic’ Look in Battle of Galwan Teaser

Bollywood superstar Salman Khan has finally addressed the social media chatter surrounding his appearance in the teaser for his upcoming war drama, Battle of Galwan. Speaking at an Indian Street Premier League (ISPL) event on Friday, the actor dismissed claims that his on-screen intensity looked more “romantic” than military, asserting that his expression was a deliberate choice for his role as a high-ranking officer.

The teaser, which debuted on the actor’s 60th birthday last month, features Khan as a Colonel leading his troops in the treacherous heights of the Galwan Valley. While many fans praised the gritty premise, a specific shot of Khan’s focused glance toward his soldiers sparked a wave of memes, with netizens jokingly comparing the expression to his signature romantic “Bhai” gaze from films like Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam.

During a candid interaction at the Surat event, Khan was asked by former cricketer Mohammad Kaif to recreate the viral pose. The actor complied, but quickly followed it with a sharp clarification.

“Now, some people might think this is a romantic look, but I’m playing a Colonel, brother,” Salman said in his trademark style. “This is the look of a leader who knows how to boost the morale of his men (jawanon ko kaise hausla dena hai). I could roar or shout, but that wouldn’t make sense for this character. It’s about composure.”

He further added that the internet’s tendency to over-analyze every frame is nothing new. “This has always happened, and it will keep happening with everyone’s blessings. It doesn’t really matter,” he noted.

Directed by Apoorva Lakhia, Battle of Galwan aims to depict the real-life 2020 clash between Indian and Chinese forces. Salman explained that his portrayal of the martyred Colonel focuses on “calm aggression” rather than typical cinematic loudness. He emphasized that at 15,000 feet above sea level, leadership is defined by restraint and resolve.

International friction: Reports of Chinese state media criticizing the film’s “exaggerated” portrayal. Physical Preparation: Salman’s admission that at 60, the training for stunts—including punching, kicking, and high-altitude running—has become significantly more demanding. Styling Debates: Earlier criticism regarding his mustache and beard, which some trolls compared to historical figures or TV characters.

Despite the online banter, the buzz for the film remains high. Battle of Galwan is produced under the Salman Khan Films banner and stars Chitrangda Singh in a pivotal role.

The movie is scheduled for a theatrical release on April 17, 2026. For Salman, this project marks a shift back to serious, patriotic storytelling, and he seems more than ready to let the final product speak for itself. To know such latest updates tuned to tellyboosters.com Thank you!
