Filmmaker Sanjay Gupta has sent shockwaves through the industry by confirming that the script for the highly anticipated sequel, Kaabil 2, is officially complete. In a series of recent statements that have set social media ablaze, the director promised that the second installment will be “far more deadlier” than the 2017 revenge thriller.
While the original film followed the heart-wrenching journey of Rohan Bhatnagar (played by Hrithik Roshan), a visually impaired man seeking justice for his wife, Gupta suggests the new chapter will push the boundaries of the genre even further.

Speaking to Variety India and later clarifying his thoughts on X (formerly Twitter), Gupta expressed total confidence in the new material. “As a director and a writer, I’m fully ready,” he stated. “The minute I get a green signal from the Roshans, we’re good to go.”
The filmmaker emphasized that his goal wasn’t just to cash in on a brand name but to elevate the storytelling. Gupta noted “When you make a sequel to a film, it has to be better than the first. Otherwise, why make it? This time it is far more deadlier than the first part.”

Despite Gupta’s readiness, the project currently hinges on the approval of Hrithik Roshan and his father, legendary producer Rakesh Roshan. While Hrithik previously hinted in early 2025 that Kaabil was the one film in his filmography that truly deserved a sequel, the family’s current focus is reportedly tied up with the massive production of Krrish 4.
The original Kaabil was a significant milestone for Hrithik Roshan, earning critical acclaim for his nuanced portrayal of a blind protagonist. It was also a commercial success, crossing the ₹100 crore mark despite a high-profile box office clash with Shah Rukh Khan’s Raees.
Industry insiders suggest that Kaabil 2 might delve into a darker, more complex “cat-and-mouse” game.
