Indian Idol is all set to take viewers on a nostalgic journey as it celebrates the golden age of Indian music through its special theme ‘Yaadon Ki Playlist’. The upcoming episode will be dedicated to a heartfelt tribute to the legendary Lata Mangeshkar whose voice continues to echo across generations. Revered as the Nightingale of India Lata ji’s unmatched contribution to Indian cinema and music earned her the country’s most prestigious honours, including the Bharat Ratna, Padma Bhushan, and the Dadasaheb Phalke Award.
The tribute episode will feature an emotionally charged performance by Shreya Ghoshal who will honour the late icon with a soulful rendition of the timeless classic ‘Yeh Sama Hai Pyaar Ka’ from Jab Jab Phool Khile. As Shreya lit the ceremonial lamp before beginning her performance, her emotions were clearly visible, turning the moment into one of deep reverence and grace.
During the episode Shreya also opened up about her first-ever meeting with Lata Mangeshkar sharing a memory close to her heart. She recalled how she once arrived at a recording studio only to learn that Lata ji was also recording there. The revelation left her extremely nervous so much so that she couldn’t focus on her own work. Sensing her anxiety the sound engineer advised her to meet Lata ji first and record later.
Shreya shared that when she finally gathered the courage to approach her idol she had countless emotions she wanted to express. However before she could speak Lata ji surprised her by saying that she had heard Shreya’s songs and praised her singing. For Shreya that moment was far more than a meeting it felt like a divine blessing, a darshan of Lata Didi.
Shreya Ghoshal’s emotional recollection paired with her soulful performance left the judges and audience visibly moved once again highlighting the everlasting legacy of Lata Mangeshkar and the profound impact she continues to have on Indian music.
