In a heart-to-heart conversation that has struck a chord across the film industry, veteran actor Suniel Shetty opened up about the emotional “turmoil” his son, Ahan Shetty, faced following his debut. While launching a new track for the upcoming war epic Border 2, the senior Shetty didn’t hold back, criticizing a culture where the industry often seems to take more pleasure in a newcomer’s downfall than their rise.
Ahan Shetty entered the spotlight in 2021 with Tadap. While the young actor was praised for his physical transformation and intensity, the film’s modest performance at the box office led to a difficult period of silence. Suniel Shetty revealed that the years following the debut were far from the “easy ride” many assume star children have.
“Everyone thinks that because he is Suniel Shetty’s son, he must be swimming in work,” the actor shared, visibly moved. “But the reality is that Ahan went through a lot. There was a long break, a lot of uncertainty, and as a father, it was painful to watch.”
The most biting part of Shetty’s commentary focused on the environment within Bollywood. He noted that while other professions allow people to fail, learn, and move on privately, the film world turns failure into a public spectacle.
“In other fields, when you fall, you get up and start walking. Here, when you fall, the world looks at you and they make you feel like you are nothing,” Shetty remarked. “In today’s times, failure is sometimes more celebrated than success. It’s a fact.”
He further challenged the stereotype that actors are “illiterate” or unaware of the mechanics of the world, defending the emotional intelligence and hard work of the younger generation.
The tide seems to be turning for the Shetty family as Ahan prepares for the release of Border 2. For Suniel, who played the iconic Subedar Ratan Singh in the original 1997 film, seeing his son join the sequel is a full-circle moment.
Ahan himself recently spoke about the period of “quiet struggles,” acknowledging that the lessons learned during his time away from the screen have shaped him. He described the chance to work in Border 2 alongside Sunny Deol—whom he considers a father figure—as a “manifestation” of his childhood dreams.
The film is one of the most anticipated sequels in Indian cinema history. The senior actor is also set to appear in major comedies like Welcome To The Jungle and Hera Pheri 3 later this year. To know such latest updates tuned to tellyboosters.com Thank you!
