The Indian film industry is witnessing a historic shift in box office dynamics as Aditya Dhar’s spy thriller, Dhurandhar 2, completes a record-shattering run across the country. While the term “pan-India” has traditionally been reserved for South Indian blockbusters making it big in the North, this Ranveer Singh-starrer has flipped the script by becoming the first modern Bollywood film to dominate the southern markets. According to the latest trade reports, the film has amassed a staggering ₹250 crore net from the five southern states alone. This performance is particularly remarkable because it surpasses the business of several regional heavyweights, including RRR’s lifetime collection in the North. By bridging the gap between Hindi cinema and southern audiences, Dhurandhar 2 has officially established itself as a true national phenomenon, proving that high-quality storytelling can transcend linguistic and cultural barriers.

The success of the film in the Telugu-speaking states of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana has been the biggest surprise for industry veterans. Dhurandhar 2 reportedly earned ₹80 crore net in these regions, effectively outperforming the collections of Prabhas’s latest release, The Raja Saab. This is an unthinkable achievement for a Hindi film in a market traditionally dominated by local superstars. Interestingly, while about half of this collection came from the Telugu dubbed version, a significant portion was driven by the original Hindi version in urban centers. A similar story unfolded in Karnataka, where the film raked in over ₹125 crore net, a figure that places it among the top five highest-earning films in the state’s history, alongside local legends like KGF and Kantara. The film’s ability to draw massive crowds in its original language highlights a growing comfort with Hindi content in southern metros, supported by strategic localized marketing.

Unlike previous Bollywood hits that relied on a few key cities,  Dhurandhar 2 managed deep penetration into Tier 2 and Tier 3 towns across the south. Trade analysts attribute this success to Aditya Dhar’s gritty, realistic direction and a star-studded ensemble featuring Arjun Rampal, Sanjay Dutt, and R. Madhavan. The film’s narrative, which serves as a sequel to the 2025 hit Dhurandhar, resonated with audiences who appreciated its technical brilliance and high-stakes action. By earning over ₹1,100 crore in India and eyeing the top spot globally, the movie has finally given Bollywood its first legitimate pan-India hit in the modern era. As the film nears the end of its theatrical journey, it leaves behind a new blueprint for Hindi filmmakers aiming to capture the hearts of audiences from Kashmir to Kanyakumari.
