Bollywood comic icon Rajpal Yadav has caught the attention of social media users by sharing his very first Instagram update shortly after receiving a major legal setback from the Delhi High Court. In a surprising move that quickly shifted public attention from his legal battles to his professional projects, the actor broke his digital silence by posting a humorous commercial featuring Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar. The unexpected social media upload arrived just hours after a single-judge bench of the high court upheld his conviction in a long-standing, multi-crore cheque bounce dispute, making the lighthearted video a highly discussed topic among fans and industry trackers alike. The promotional video shows Akshay Kumar presenting an elaborate spread of delicious culinary dishes to an appreciative group of women who mistake him for the mastermind chef. The comedic twist unfolds when Rajpal Yadav suddenly enters the frame wearing a kitchen apron, prompting Akshay to hilariously reveal that Rajpal was the actual chef who cooked the entire feast using a popular spice brand.

The upbeat nature of the Instagram post stands in sharp contrast to the gravity of the legal developments unfolding in the national capital. Justice Swarana Kanta Sharma of the Delhi High Court officially upheld the trial court’s previous conviction of Rajpal Yadav across seven distinct cheque bounce complaints filed under Section 138 of the Negotiable Instruments Act. While the high court chose to reduce his initial prison term from six months to a modified sentence of three months of simple imprisonment, it firmly refused to grant him the benefit of probation, citing his history of repeated non-compliance with judicial commitments. The court noted with extreme displeasure that despite being granted over two dozen distinct opportunities and extensions by various judicial forums to reach an amicable monetary settlement, the actor continuously failed to honor his formal payment undertakings. Additionally, the court took serious note of an defiant statement made during previous hearings where the actor reportedly remarked that he would prefer to go to jail five more times rather than pay the complainant, leading the bench to describe his overall conduct as highly dubious.

The intricate roots of this complex legal saga stretch all the way back to 2010 when Rajpal Yadav borrowed a capital sum of Rs 5 crore from a Delhi-based private firm, M/s Murali Projects Private Limited, to fund his ambitious directorial debut feature film titled Ata Pata Laapata. The satirical comedy failed to perform at the box office, triggering an intense financial crisis that left the actor entirely unable to repay his lenders. With substantial interest accumulating over more than a decade of litigation, the outstanding debt eventually ballooned to nearly Rs 9 crore. Under the latest high court mandate, Rajpal has been ordered to pay a heavy fine of Rs 1.05 crore for each of the seven complaints, totaling an aggregate penalty of Rs 7.35 crore, while his wife Radha Rajpal Yadav has been directed to pay over Rs 5 lakh per case. Although the court has provided a brief two-month protection window allowing him time to legally appeal the judgment before a higher appellate bench, the ruling stands as a significant blow to the actor. Interestingly, his contemporary film commitments remain robust, as he is slated to share screen space with Akshay Kumar once again in the highly anticipated multi-starrer comedy sequel Welcome To The Jungle.
