Jasmeet Kaur on Her Debut in Tu Juliet Jatt Di: “I Thought It Was a Prank!”

Jasmeet Kaur, who is about to make her debut with Tu Juliet Jatt Di on Colors, when asked about landing the role, said, “I thought it was a prank when Sargun Ma’am reached out!”

Tu Juliet Jatt Di is a refreshing story where, surprisingly, the story starts after the marriage, then the college, and then love. Interesting, right? The story revolves around Nawab, played by Syed Raza; his character is a total carefree personality, a Jatt who lives life on his terms, whereas Heer (Jasmeet Kaur) is the exact opposite, disciplined in life, practical about things, and wanting a better future for her mother.

Jasmeet shares her thoughts when asked about the show.

1. Tell us about the show.

She shares how it is not your typical campus story but rather a unique take on it. Set in Chandigarh University, the show is full of energy, banter, and sparks between two opposite worlds.

Heer (Jasmeet Kaur) is disciplined and ambitious, while Nawab (Syed Raza) is carefree and impulsive. Their “majboori ki shaadi” ties them together before college even begins, making their reunion emotional, fun, and full of chemistry.

2. What drew you to your character, Heer?

Jaspreet says she resonates with Heer, as they have common ground, like deeply rooted values, plus she being Sikh and Punjabi is a plus factor too. Moreover, her character is empowering, and she loves that about her.

3. How did you prepare to portray Heer’s mix of resilience, ambition, and strength?
Heer carries her family’s dreams, and her unheard struggles remind Jaspreet of her real-life incidents. So this is something she can relate to.

4. How was your experience of shooting in Chandigarh?
Chandigarh was special—lively yet peaceful, full of charm, energy, and warmth. Locations like Rose Garden and local food like Dharam Paaji’s Garam Dharam made the experience memorable and helped me connect with Heer’s world.

5. How has your experience been working with Sargun Mehta and Ravi Dubey?
It’s been a dream! When Sargun Ma’am called, I thought it was a prank. It was a dream come true; the journey has been incredible, as they not only showed support but also guided throughout, said Jaspreet.

6. What do you hope audiences take away?
It’s about two opposite people learning, growing, and understanding each other. Love can be messy but transformative, and empathy and respect can create strong connections.

7. Your message to viewers?
Tu Juliet Jatt Di is packed with laughter, drama, and heart-tugging moments. Heer and Nawab’s journey is energetic, chaotic, and full of chemistry. Catch it Monday to Sunday at 7 PM on COLORS.
