Popular Punjabi singer and music composer Guru Randhawa recently found himself at the receiving end of intense social media criticism following the release of his latest track Fine Shyt, leading the artist to step away from online noise and seek spiritual peace at the holy Golden Temple in Amritsar. The newly released music video, set inside a corporate office environment featuring Guru as a senior professional surrounded by female colleagues dancing around him, ignited immediate debate across digital platforms. Although the video opened with a disclaimer stating all performers were adults and included a lighthearted caveat advising viewers against replicating the dance steps at their workplace to avoid HR action, critics and netizens called out the presentation for its objectification of working women, labelled the tone inappropriate, and expressed disappointment over his recent musical choices compared to his earlier classics.
As the backlash grew stronger and users flooded various platforms with trolling and critical comments, Guru Randhawa made the decision to turn off the comments section across his social media handles to shield himself from the negativity. Turning toward spirituality to navigate the challenging phase, the hitmaker posted a serene picture on his official Instagram account showing him seated by the holy Amrit Sarovar at Sri Harmandir Sahib with his back facing the camera. Accompanying the photograph with a heartfelt note in Punjabi, Guru expressed his unshakeable faith in divine grace, writing that whom Waheguru blesses, no storm can ever shake, and emphasizing that when Baba Nanak holds someone’s hand, they simply continue moving forward.
This recent controversy adds to a growing wave of discussion surrounding the artist’s recent releases, as music listeners had previously raised similar concerns regarding the depiction of young women in his earlier single Azul. Despite the heavy online commentary and divided public opinions, Guru’s quiet visit to the Golden Temple reflects his desire to remain grounded in faith and seek inner tranquility during difficult moments. Having earned massive global fame with chart-topping blockbusters such as High Rated Gabru, Lahore, and Suit Suit, the celebrated singer remains focused on relying on spiritual strength to overcome the current storm.
