CINTAA hits back at ‘false’ dissolution claims: ‘A 68-year-old institution can’t be undermined by misinformation’

The Cine and TV Artistes Association has issued a strong statement firmly rejecting reports claiming that its Executive Committee has been dissolved, calling such assertions completely false, misconceived, and lacking judicial sanctity. Established in 1958, the 68-year-old trade union represents thousands of actors across film, television, digital media, advertising, and live performances, safeguarding their workplace rights, resolving financial disputes, and providing essential welfare support. Addressing rumors sparked by internal friction, CINTAA clarified that under its official Constitution, the governing Executive Committee can stand dissolved only if more than fifty percent of its elected members resign from office. Since that threshold has not been reached, the association confirmed that its governing council remains fully functional, operational, and legally valid to continue its mandate.
To address vacancies caused by the recent resignation of eight committee members, CINTAA explained that replacement procedures were executed strictly according to constitutional rules. Eligible candidates who were next in line based on previous election vote counts were inducted to fill the vacant slots, ensuring complete continuity in daily operations and governance. Legal Counsel Adv. Suvigya Vidyarthi stated that the circulating claims regarding dissolution are entirely baseless and that external bodies, including the Federation of Western India Cine Employees, have tried to intervene without constitutional authority at the behest of disgruntled individuals. The legal team stressed that external directives cannot override the internal governance of an autonomous, constitutionally guided trade union, reassuring members that legal steps will be taken to safeguard CINTAA’s independence and autonomy.
Reiterating its commitment to the artist community, CINTAA released an official public notice advising members and industry stakeholders to disregard rumors being spread for oblique motives. The association emphasized that its history and service spanning nearly seven decades far transcend individual office-bearers or temporary committee disputes, remaining a crucial support system for vulnerable actors who might otherwise lack bargaining power against industry pressures. With all administrative workflows, legal assistance programs, and welfare initiatives running without interruption, CINTAA reaffirmed that its doors stay open to all members, asserting that an esteemed 68-year-old institution cannot be derailed by internal disagreements or false narratives.
